Just getting around to painting the 2500 points of lizardmen I've built up over the years, with a tournament coming up at the beginning of next month - so I've got my work cut out for me!

I decided that I really liked the idea of lizardmen becoming paler and more bone colored the older and stronger they got, and thought it would be cool to have an entire spawning of bone-colored lizardmen on the table rather than the standard blue.

I decided to start in on my scar vet cowboys as test models, and so far have loved the results! Enjoy, and any C&C is more than welcome! Slann is next up on the painting desk, followed by 2 skink priests before I get stuck in on the core of the army.

The core troops are going to be the same bone color with purple scales; I want the entire spawning to be bone-colored (except for the terradons, chamo skinks, stegadons, etc) to break away from the standard blues that people always see. Basically the fluff behind it is that, as Tlaxtlan is the city of the moon, these sacred white spawnings are not weakened by Morsslieb as are other spawnings in Tlaxtlan are. When the great white slann stir from their chambers of this city and lead these legions to war, it often signals times of either great strife or great prosperity for the temple city.

    Look great :)
Maybe it's just me, but I think you could make the green eyes on the Slann "pop" some more. Moot Green http://www.games-workshop.com/en-EU/Citadel-Layer is very bright. You could extend this to other models such as your skinks as well. I think it would go very well with the light color and purple. :)

Also I think you could do something interesting with the blowpipes on the stegadon, if you're up for it. The entire howda along with the blowpipes are grey so they can just become one grey mass.

Keep up the good work :)

Yeah the green wash in the eyes is definitely a stop-gap measure; I'm trying to get the army finished for a tournament Nov 7th, so I'm taking a few shortcuts in the short term that I fully intend to rectify later on.

I painted the blowpipes grey for that reason - but honestly they're growing on me. To me, it makes sense that these big honking blow pipes would likely be made out of the same stone that the howdah is made of, though I could see them being made out of the same bronze that the rest of the weapon tips are made out of. And I suppose they could also be sculpted from felled trees...there are definitely some options to explore.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I like the grey pipes all I would do is maybe add a bit of colour to the eye and tongue.

My two skink priests (sorry for the different pictures...took one at night, one in the morning in full sunlight) - looking for ideas on how to create a detachable Dispell Scroll and Cube of Darkness. I've made both items out of green stuff, but am having a difficult time deciding how to/where to attach them so I can remove them once the items are used. Or should I leave well enough alone, so that my opponent doesn't know what each skink has until I pop the item?

I like the second one! Was thinking about cutting the feathers of one of mine, too. Wanted to try to make some earring kind of thing for him...

If I knew how the items actually look like I could make some better suggestions... Maybe you can put the cube in outstretched left hand?
BTW don't know but don't you have to tell your opponent what your priest has, before you start the game?

In 40k, you have to share your army list before you start a game (in a tournament setting). In fantasy, I believe you share lists at the end of a match - so that your opponent doesn't know what magic banners, items, weapons, etc your army has. Just like in a real battle, you wouldn't know your opponent's general has the Tricksters Shard until you attacked him in combat, and you'd have to cast magic wondering if there was a dispell scroll in the opponent's army, encouraging you to potentially channel more energy (dice) into the spell...etc etc.

I made a tiny greenstuff cube, and a tiny green stuff scroll (rolled up), about the size to fit in the outstretched hand. My first thought was to simply drill a small hole into the palm of each, and add a small pin into each item, so that I can have them holding it and then remove it once its been used. If WHFB still uses the "show your army list after the game" method, then I'll just scrap the ideas alltogether lol

    Beauyifull work

Girst of all nuce job! Second, i believe the best way to do this is to magnetize the objects, there are really small magnets that would fint into the skink hand and they should work.... i have used them before to magnetize skink feet and the banners on the stegadon ao they should work nocelly

Yeah I've got a whole mess of magnets in my hobby desk, so that's probably the route to go. Thanks!
