Well after Weeks and weeks of trying to figure out paint schemes I finally bit the bullet and started putting paint to miniature. This is my first attempt at painting anything other than the walls of my house so I have a lot of learning. Thankfully there's lots of great information On this website. I have also spent my fair share of time on the youtube. So here's a few pics so far. Please any pointers or criticism is appreciated.

The skink chief is not complete. Still have to wash, then highlight. Will post more pics along the way. The skink and saurus pic was just to show the basic colour of my army. 20160306_114034.jpg 20160306_114007.jpg 20160306_113920.jpg 20160306_114112.jpg

That chief looks great so far! Those greens are a good colour.

It looks really good. I can see how long you spent watching videos ;)
I can´t really find any criticism to add to you knowledge :), they look great and I love how you used a wash on white base coat. I recommend you to try some highlight if you haven´t thought about it already.

Very impressive for a first time painting models :artist:

It's still incredible to me how much extra a wash can give to a model! Looks fantastic.

Started messing around with some highlights. Looked real good till I used the flashlight on it. Turns out proper lighting is really important for painting. I thought everything was good but the extra light makes it appear as if I used to much highlight In certain areas. If someone with more experience could chime in on what I'm doing wrong or what I could improve on please do :) 20160306_210051.jpg 20160306_210034.jpg 20160306_210114.jpg ]

ntI see you applied highlight on the sword. Did you water down the paint? And maybe the problem is just an unsteady hand, you will get better at it the more you do it. A good tip is to put the brush at a 45º angle from the border and slide it side wards Like in a K

    K

Immagine it like a K, the line at the right are the brush bristles, whose middle slides, not the tip. The other two lines are the model´s corner that needs to be highlighted. And just slide the brush, as easy as that ;).

    Hope that helps

Very nice for your first model, when highlighting don't worry too much about being precise when you start, drybrush the full model and if you have touched any areas with the wrong colour just touch up by hand.

When you highlight if the model looks like it has lost some depth try glazing the area, a glaze is a very thin wash of an appropriate colour.

well done and keep the pics coming.
