    Hey guys,

Right I have Lizardmen, Ogres, Undead, Orcs and Goblins I'm adding Mantic models to these armies but I might start a dedicated Mantic army.

What army would you start and why?

Honestly, I'm a bit cheap, so would probably stick to what I have! But if I had limitless funds it would be Orks and goblins for sure. I haven't read the rules, but it's the army I would have originally gone for in warhammer as well, if lizards didn't fall into my lap.

All that being said, I found my old style lizardmen, in need of a bit of an upgrade of course, and some new paint styles, but once I get started on a multi base I will start a WIP thread to see where we get. But, as a huge procrastinator with two jobs, it will be a while!

Well I have a schedule of my own with my KoW projects. My list so far goes like this, in order of completion :

    - Salamanders
    - Brotherhood
    - Forces of Nature / Elves (Tree army, only Forest based units: Tree Herder, Shamblers, Hunters of the Wild and the Green Lady) I might add some Drakon Riders representing Forest Spirits, Not sure though.

Another army that I find really appealing is the Night-Stalkers just because of their uniqueness, but If I were to do them I think I would go a bit mental and sculpt my own miniatures for them (wouldn't be the first time, that's how I started working for Urban Mammoth back in the Urban War days)

I think we need some picks of the urban mammoth! Sculpting your own would be brilliant andI can't even tell you how much we enjoy that type of thing over here!

    If you insist....

The thing is in my gaming group, about what now feels like a thousand years ago, we started playing Urban War a game made by a scottish manufacturer called Urban Mammoth. Problem was I didn't liked some of the minaitures made for my faction, specially a really good unit called Pointman, so I sculpted one for myself:

I then posted it on the official game forum and about 30 minutes later I recieved an email from one of the bosses, long story short I started working for them. First miniature produced was the Pointman, and followed LOTS of robots and 1 cyborg, In the end it was amazing because I got to create the minis for my faction the way I liked them and get paid for it, on the other side lets just say that if you are studying engineering, freelancing as a sculptor is NOT a good idea if you are planning on finishing your career.

There were some more, but mainly just different versions of those, you know weapon variants and such. The HUGE robot you see on top was the last miniature I did for them, and the last full miniature I sculpted :(. Saldly no pictures of the actual sculpts I'm afraid I lost them.

I was often praised for making miniatures that were carbon copies of the amazing artwork they had, it was a really amazing period of my life but in the end it had to be stopped to finish my career. Funny thing is I'm a goldsmith now, so you know, the time I spent studying could have been used better really.

Well that was a lot info on me ;)

Also in the mean time I sculpted a couple of models for some random companies, can't remember all the minis I did but found this picture of an elf lord I made for Darkslave mianitures:

And I have an almost finished elf lord with a baby dragon pet, I will get you a picture if I can soon, and maybe one day I will get to finish it

Those are incredible! Absolutely gorgeous! You are amazingly talented! I am speechless at how good all of these look! I want to find some of those! Would make great additions to a tau army if I were to play 40k!

Now when I looked at your first post where you had just returned to the hobby, I was right about you being a talented painter and it is now clear why you are such a talent, the crisp finish you achieve is clearly seen in all your work. The detail in your sculpts is why you are such a good painter, patience and lots of it, I just wish I had 1/2 of what you have.

As Vader would say "impressive most impressive"

With unlimited funds I would go for that Forces of Nature and Treemen army.

If you are thinking of sculpting your own night stalkers, maybe you might work with Mantic and have your models be official againt ? :D

About starting a new army, beware about Orcs as they are an almost fully close combat army, they feel a lot like Warriors of Chaos in Warhammer from this angle. Of course, using a mix of Orcs and Goblins is less a problem, especially if gobs are the main force.

If I ever get to do it I will surely post them on the Forum. Sadly right now I'm up to brim with work, which is a good thing but I just can't get the huge amount of time required to sculpt full miniatures. Who know what the furute holds but for now its just painting and gaming.

I'm not going to mix my Orcs, I'm looking forward to trying a whole Orc army and maybe winning!

Right now, I'm using what I have, mostly my leftover WHFB armies. I can run Salamander, Kingdoms of Men, Ratkin, and Basilea, and small Dwarf, Elf, Orc, and Goblin armies.

What would I build, if money were no object? Hmm. I'd probably do a Basilean army from the ground up. I'd also love an undead army. Nightmares would be fun, just for the joy of kitbashing something unique. League of Rhordia intrigues me as well.

For now, I will probably keep playing Basilea and Kingdoms of Men with my Empire army, supplemented by my Salamanders.
