Contest May - June Visual Art Contest (WIP Thread)

and just to show @Bowser isn't the only one illustrating stories

We need more illustrations of these stories. Also I need to try this flavour. Sounds amazing!

You'd get dark elf blueberry, Saurus bubblegum, Jalapeño Khorne - look, if Khorne wants a spicy ice cream, I'm not going to be the one to tell him no -, Nurgle mint, plain vanilla empire and the Skaven special, "The Taste of Backstabbing".

And these are just seven off the top of my head! I spend too much time on this forum ...

Spoiler: Watching Things Burn

If I find time to enter the contest, I was thinking of doing something for "Watching Things Burn."

An Altar of Sotek, out in a thunderstorm. Upon it's table-like platform is a pillow. The falling rain hits the statue just right so the block snake statue appears to be crying. I'd call this hypothetical piece "Gartol's author."

Also @Bowser, I'm not sure I like your interpretation. The bed and pillow look a little too 21st century human. I'm pretty sure Killer Angel, the anonymous author, pictured a relatively crude bed like a mound of straw with a cover over it. The pillow would probably be square someone like a couch throw pillow and probably filled with something firmer and heavier than the modern feather pillow you drew. That's probably what Killer Angel the anonymous author would want. Said author might be mildly regretting not describing the bedroom in more detail just as he or she is probably regretting forgetting to mention that the Daemon warrior in one of his/her longer pieces had four arms. Not that I have any special insight into this author's inner workings.

Bowser, I like your interpretation. First impression is of the challenging use of perspective, and the second is the lack of struggle. Then I saw the tear and it tied up the whole image for me - regret vs devotion to the Great Plan.

The image might be even deeper than you intended.

It was obviously done on purpose, to confound the Readers of this thread. :pompus:
Always so devious and clever! A mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in scales.

I think after reading the critiques, and the only real complaint was the pillow and the megaphone were too modern. So I stuck with the modern theme. But perhaps I will fix this for Killer Angel the completely anonymous author. Maybe with a 4 armed daemon on one shoulder and a winged, halo'd snake on the other

Right I'm confused which isn't hard tbh, what story are we talking about and are we trying to guess the author?

Watching Things Burn is the story, the author, while mysterious, may have given himself or herself away in this very thread. The hints are subtle, very subtle. So go put on your best batman hat before attempting to solve this one.

I wrote that, my memory is bad but I do recall writing that, just could not remember the title.

Now these photorealistic skinks are in their proper setting.
