    A small update!
I am painting my Skink Priest right now! He is the first of the "newer" line of models that I paint. It's kind of crazy actually but I've had enough older models lying around to paint, so it is only recently that I've bought new ones. It's an absolutely gorgous looking plastic kit I must say. I just love those feathers. I will post pictures when he is done or maybe a couple of work in progress. In the not too distant future I will also start on my first and only stegadon. I'm very hyped but also very scared to get started. I have a feeling it will take me forever...
Also thanks for your encouraging words @Acrocanth! I very much look forward to see your metal stegadon when it's finished :)
I decided to reply on my own thread not to spam the other one ;)

I finished my skink priest! He was a pure delight to paint. The feathers were sooo difficult (I'm new to blending) but it turned out well in the end :) He took me a lot of hours so I really hope you like him!
I maybe want to make the eyes look a bit more interesting. Maybe shade them a little?
For some reson my camera wouldn't focus right so I had to hold him for pictures.

Thanks a lot @Bowser! :) The blending was a b***h but I watched some tutorials on youtube that helped a bit :)

Hey guys. I'm trying to change my avatar (from nothing to something!) but I keep getting an error message saying the file I upload is too big and that the avatar can maximum be 50 kb. The picture I'm trying to use is a .png image and originally was 220 kb but I compressed it online on "tinypng" and it is now only 32 kb and it still wont let me use it. Any ideas? :)

    It has begun!
    DSC_0757.JPG

After having had this kit a looong time without assembling it due to sheer fright of then painting it, I'm finally going to start! It has taken me a long time to decide on a paint scheme aswell. It was pretty much between green, red and brown. In my heart I really wanted to paint it red since the old metal stegadon was painted red in the army book I had when I just got into the hobby, so the true picture of a stegadon is just red to me. It feels right. However, my brain told me to paint it green. Mainly because I only have two red paints (Khorne Red and Mephiston Red) and I have 8 greens opening op for a much broader palet. Brown wasn't as strong a contender as the others and in the end the heart won. So against logic I decided on red! I might have to spend a few bucks on more red paints but I will try to see if I can survive with the two I have. I also have oranges, yellows and browns of cause, so I hope I can make something happen.

    Here she is assembled:

The two heads are my next problem. Yet unresolved... I really like both of them. Also I see now that there are lots of little gaps here and there so I'll fix those up with some liquid green stuff later when I have decided between the heads :)

    Minor update:
I decided on the not-so-aggressive head in the end. I am still a big dinosaur fan and I want my Stegadon to look as much as a "real" dinosaur as possible. So I kind of thought the other head was a bit too monster-like and aggressive instead of dinosaur-like. If that makes any sense... Also I'm using the small horns. Anyway I used a lot of liqued greenstuff on her so she is pretty much ready for painting. I will probably keep the head seperated from the body for a little while.

Here she is after some red basecoats. Khorne red scales and mephiston red body. I want to make the belly lighter like a bone color or something but that will require some blending...
    DSC_0768.JPG

Also... I want this model so bad I've started drawing it :p
    DSC_0803.JPG

I'm thinking about coloring the drawing to test out some paint schemes!

So I need the help of you members now! :)
I will paint the belly a light color. But I don't want the belly to look like all the horns, so instead of using my typical bone color I thought about buying the color "Rakarth Flesh" which is a pale grey/white. I've seen some videos with it and I think it would work. However here's the problem...
I want a nice natural blend from the red to the light belly. At first I thought I would shade the skin and the scales with Nuln Oil but the Rakarth flesh on the belly will probably benifit more from a brown wash. So maybe I shade the scales only with Nuln Oil and then the skin and belly with Agrax Earthshade to help with the blendning... The horns will need Agrax Earthshade aswell when I paint them.
Alternatively I could also shade the scales Agrax Earthshade to make it really simple. But I want a nice distinction between skin and scales (I don't want them to fade into each other).
As you can hear I'm quite confused and don't quite know what to do.
Any inputs, oppinions and tips on what to do with shading will be really appreciated! :)

Have you got Ushabati bone if so mix white into it and that will give you a colour similar to Rakarth flesh, shade it with Seraphin Sepia, relayer with your Ushabati/white mix then where the scales and belly meet glaze with Caraborn crimson but water it down 4/1 and apply 8-10 layers but make each one cover a smaller area, you want the concentration of the glaze to be at the joint.

That will give the belly a slight red tint and it will enhance the red scales, I did this cape that way but with different colours.

Thank you for the great answer @Crowsfoot! I do have ushabti bone so I might just try that. I don't have carroburg crimson however. maybe I can get that. would you shade the skin and scales with null oil or agree earthshade?
