Just to be clear I want to put something else in there... the big brother of The Hobbit.;)

Lord of the Rings >>> Star Wars > Star Trek > The Hobbit.

I really love LotR :shamefullyembarrased:
:D

A couple of quick clarifications:

  • Star Wars > all other books, novels, movies, plays, tv programs, etc. :p
  • We need to make a distinction about The Hobbit: are we talking about the book or movies? because Hobbit Novel >>> Hobbit Movies
  • Star Trek is another interesting one... which series? TV show or movies?

Of course TNG series is the best of the lot. :)

I would have to go with the Original Series as my personal favorite, just because I grew up watching the re-runs over and over again. Despite most of the episodes being horrible. And the acting terrible. And the sets cheap and the aliens just people with bad makeup and funny eyebrows.

I didn't get into TNG or DS9 till I was a little older, love them both though. Only saw a few episodes as a kid, and I always thought Captain Picard was my grandpa because they were both bald, my mom had to explain the difference back then to me (but I secretly still don't believe her...)

And though I might be in the minority here, I would DEFINATELY pick Star Trek before Star Wars. :vulcan:

Surely you don't mean the Hobbit movies?

No the movies were too long and out of context compared to the book, same with LOTR although I was extremely happy someone eventually tackled the immense job of trying to recreate one of the best literary pieces. I've read LOTR 5 times and when I think about it, it's stirs emotions, the films are never the same.

Read the books if you haven't yet.

I can agree with that at least, I wasn't as big a fan of the movies (despite their epicness) but I enjoyed the book as a kid and an adult.

And the old cartoon was awesome, that's what made me read the book and eventually led me to Warhammer in the first place!

I remember watching the animated film when I was a kid that also got me interested in warhammer, Tolkien went to Stonyhurst college which is about a 25 minute drive from where I live, when we go and walk round you can see where he got the inspiration from.

That is awesome.

Just added something to my bucket list.

Welcome to the forums!

Anyway, whether you play Age of Sigmar or Warhammer, we have resources to help you get the most out of your game play and painting. Or you can watch people debate which sci-fi franchise is best. In reality. Most of us have seen most sci-fi franchises so it's hard to pretend we are above or beneath certain shows or movies.
