My friend clued me into this conversion.

The actual model is so close to the Dread Saurian, I think even a relative novice converter can do this. It's cheap enough, I just don't know if I have time to do it. So many projects...

Thats an amazing model. Do you have any idea what the base model is?

According to the guy's blog, it's made by Papo Toys and is called "Mutant Dragon"

Cool conversion, they did a good job on it, also if this one seems too much senzient for my tastes is better than Carden's one , as alternatives i thought about using Mierce miniatures crocodile or papo postosuchus

I like the model in general, but the weapon in its had just feels wrong for the Dread Saurian. Everything else is awesome though.

    Kinda like that last one.
My idea is to customize a Tamiya T-Rex (1/35 diorama set, the newer one) by adding spikes and so on. I already have the basic model, built and primed it and put it on a base, but since I am a really bad sculptor I am pretty much in the first phase of the model, trying to create spikes from modelling putty. As of now I don't have a single one that looks decent. It will take several weeks until I can show anything.

I prefer the second one as well and having already painted up a plastic dino I know what can be achieved, I looked at the T-rex but felt it is too recognizable.

My sculpting skills are poor at best but I really like the Dreads rules but the FW model is shocking, contemplation begins.

first off @Crowsfoot If you don't post a link to that model I will set it in motion for you to trip and stub your foot...and yah the second one is better the first I bought as well but its more fitting for a lizard giant than dread...

What size base does the Dread Saurian live on?

I really want to get myself one, been looking into potential conversion possibilities.

Unsure but it is massive, I've seen one at Warhammer world so would guess 170*105mm Oval

For my T-Rex Dread Saurian I also got the biggest oval base there is, which is the mentioned 170*105mm

EDIT: And yes, it is too easily recognizable, which is why I want to customice it as well as I can. Planned for now are at least some spikes, but maybe also a frill around its neck (like a frilled-neck lizard) and some more stuff. But it all really depends on how my sculpting skills will evolve during the next few weeks and months.

I remember looking at that one as well, but for some reason (that I don't remember anymore unfortunately) I decided against it.

I don't think his head is quite big enough, or his teeth... but could work. They're not super expensive so might grab a couple and see what they look like in person.

That one makes a great Carnosaur!

How big is that PAPO Allosaurus btw? Almost all dinos I looked at were either too small or too big. The T-Rex has the perfect size IMO, it is around the size of the ForgeWorld Dread Saurian model (around 40cm long)
