Contest Lizardmen Poetry Competition April-May 2017

The Old Ones have spoken to me or perhaps I ate overly hallucinogenic mushroom, regardless I am to host a competition in honour of the Mushroom gods....ahem Old Ones*. They demand your tributes of words in the form of poetry. Don't fear if like the might Kroxigor your vocabulary is limited you will not be judged here - except when it comes to the judging part of the competition.

The Theme
There is none. Choose whatever theme you like so long as it is Lizardmen related.

The Rules
There are none. (Apart from the following)(So in actual fact there are some rules, I lied to you, I am sorry)

-Keep your poem to an artistic minimum. Word count wont be stressed about too much in here.
-Keep it anonymous. Don't use your own name in the story use someone else's name throw them off the scent
-Keep Lizardmen in the story or some aspect of their world / lore.
-Keep visuals and images to a minimum or none at all this is a poetry competition.
-Keep em coming, you may enter as many times as you wish.

The winner will be decided by public vote at the end of the deadline - 30/04/2017.

Did somebody say poetry!? I'm in! ....Right, now I need to get some inspiration! Not to mention the form of said poem- actually, has anyone ever attempted to do a sonnet (love poem) about the Lizardmen? Also got to think about that iambic pentameter and sestets and couplets... (starts mumbling about various forms of poetry)

One of my many extant work in progresses pieces is an epic poem. I have a lot of it written, just not the poem part. See I am writing what I want and the translating it into poems. Probably not the most efficient route to write poems.

Poetry contest? I may have to enter this one. I'll refrain from my initial inclination which is a sestina, although a twenty book epic detailing part of the defense of Itza in the first war against Chaos would be awesome.

Does anyone here have a background in literature and/or poetry. If you give me a ABABAB rhythm and rhyme scheme I can write something to fit it, but I'm really bad at free form. What is a good pentameter for a religiously loaded epic poem?
