Depending on the style of the model, they might provide some excellent conversion material. Any word on when the Tomb Kings Blood Bowl team might be released? Also, will it be a plastic release or resin?

I don't know when they'll be released - all I know is that they feature on GW's PDF on rules for Blood Bowl teams who aren't in Death Zone, alongside Amazons and Halflings! Yes, Halflings! Feast your mince pies on this...

With Khalida, now you need some large amount of archers... :D
Indeed I do.

I think the hardest thing to get will be a Sphinx. Especially as I'd like to get it new in box or at the very least including all the extra bits (to make a heirotitan). At least the snake surfers (and the tomb guard) were a good catch.

All in good time.

It is hard to find a sphinx for a good price, because I was looking for one to use as a Necron Tomb Stalker conversion as a Necrosphinx with Gauss Flayers but they were priced around £200.00 or something ridiculous, considering they were around only £30.00 when they were on sale in GW.

Yea... they are sadly the toughest TK unit/model to get for a good price. The worst offender by far. I would absolutely love if GW would release them through their Made to Order program. People would buy them up in a heartbeat!

Indeed - but I don't know if GW ever would do that because they're not allowing TK in AoS anymore, which is a great shame because I thought they looked so much better than Vampire Counts. Also I disagree with rulesets putting them as part of the Death alignment - the Tomb Kings hated Nagash's guts, so why would they side with him? I would have made it up that they made a deal with Sigmar to help the forces of Order to defeat Nagash and then be rewarded with either death (like the spirits from Lord of the Rings) or transformation back into their living selves. That would have been so much more interesting and would have removed the need for GW to create the ugly Sylvaneth. Probably.

GW should have got rid of Empire and VC and kept Bretonnia and TK.

I've managed to buy a warsphinx for 50 £, but that was a private deal... :p

But the TK warscrolls are still playable in AoS aren't they?

Yes, they are, and still fully supported with points, even in GHB2.

Good deal.

Patience is the key. I was able to get my new in box Tomb Guard for $56CAD and my Necropolis Knights for $71CAD (combined shipping for the two items was $15CAD).

I got my Khalida + Tomb King for $28CAD including shipping.

In the meantime, I've updated my Tomb Kings list with some juicy new model! :D

I posted this poll over at the EEFL forum and I thought I'd see what you fellow lizards thought about it as well:

I'm looking at picking up a Tomb Kings army. Of course with GW discontinuing the line, the models have become quite scarce (and more importantly quite expensive on the secondary market). It is possible to get some of the models for a decent price, however, any of the new sculpts (Sphinx, Tomb Guard, Necropolis Knights, Sepulchral stalkers) are unrealistically expensive. By unrealistic, I simply mean more than I am willing to pay for them.

So my questions is (and this is guess work at best), what do you think are the odds that GW re-releases the Tomb Kings and within what time frame? The re-release could be of the entire line or the most recent sculpts (with or without new additions) or through the "made to order" service. Which models are the most likely to be released, if any? What format of release would you expect?

For the sake of this discussion, by re-release I am only referring to the release of models, irrespective of any new content/rules/battletome in AoS. I only have interest in the models and don't really care what takes place in AoS.

Cheers & thanks!

For anyone interested, the original poll on EEFL can be found here

I'd say the chance of an ice cube staying cold in nehekhara.

As to cheap tomb Kings, if you are ok with good quality recasts I have a guy

At the moment I'm leaning towards trying to assemble a "legit" army. But should my resolve break and desperation set in, I'll send you a message! Cheers,

no worries. I completely understand the legit philosophy. but when there are perfectly good miniatures available and the company making them cans production, i turn to the market to solve my issue.

My preference towards a legit army definitely doesn't come from any loyalty (or ethical qualms) towards GW, they have killed any of those feelings long ago (can anyone guess how? :p) . Instead, my leanings come as a result of the following factors:
  • the original model will always be of better quality than the recast (no matter how great the recaster is)
  • the original models are in plastic (for the most part), which I prefer over resin (which most recasts tend to be)
  • the original model will hold or maintain it's value over the long haul (not that I plan on selling them)

That said, recasts have the advantage of cost and availability (in the case of TK). These factors grow stronger as time passes and potential frustration grows. At the moment though I am very happy with my acquisitions.

I definitely don't blame you. GW had their chance, but they focused their efforts elsewhere. If they refuse to make them available, then they are shit out of luck. :D

What did you get?

My second warsphinx
My third carrion (in AoS a carrions' unit is composed by minimum 3 models)
a mounted herald
Nekaph, Herald of Settra (a model that actually doesn't exists; it's a kitbash using parts of a tomb guard, the torso of a necron, a great axe of a NecroKnight, sticked on his back a banner pole of a chariot with mounted upon the "bladed tail" of a warsphinx, to act as banner)

Hmm. I was in Vienna a few months back at one of the GW stores there and they has a lot of TK stuff on the last chance to buy shelf if I go back ill take a look and see if its still there

When you see on Ebay some seller with a good amount of TK models, I buy something and then I usually ask if they have got something else.
It doesn't happen often, but sometime they have indeed other interesting things, and are willing to sell them with a private deal, at lower prices (given that they cut away ebay taxes).
Not exactly a thing that falls into Ebay rules, but hey.
