The army is absolutely massive, containing just about every Tomb King character and unit in the army book. From previous purchases, I also own, 40 plastic Tomb Guard, a box of Necroknights/Stalkers, 16 Skeleton archers, Khalida (now a duplicate), Tomb King on foot, Tomb king on chariot. The only thing I need are bits from a Necrosphinx to make a Hierotitan (but that can wait, I can just sub in a bone giant in its place for now).

I'm a happy guy! Now I have 3 full fantasy armies (Lizardmen, Warriors of Chaos & Tomb Kings) and an old Necron army that I can't part with due to sentimental reasons.

Was this an Ebay purchase or someone you knew selling it?

But the TK warscrolls are still playable in AoS aren't they?

They are but GW has probably nerfed them to get more people to buy Sylvaneth rubbish.

:wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed:

Whoever it was that you got all that from was pretty generous! I expect that is a considerable discount compared to if you bought them all new.

You could probably use the duplicate Khalida as another Liche High priest/Heirophant or something with a bit of converting.

It is evident that you will be very busy sticking stuff together and painting for a long time... ;)

I have similar aims as you in that I'm trying to buy as much fantasy stuff as possible before GW gives it all round bases, so that I don't need to buy any square ones from their website :)

If he had bought it all new, he would only be able to afford the 3 warspinxes, 9 Necropolis knights and a few character's.

Holy cow!
that's a MASSIVE army, I've got something more than you, but also something less. I'm really (favourably) impressed by this purchase.

Kudos! :)

can't wait to hear about your first battles... ;)

EDIT: hey, with all that painting that must be done, you could well join the current comp on Khemri... :D

Was this an Ebay purchase or someone you knew selling it?
I actually bought it at Fan Expo Toronto (Toronto's version of San Diego Comicon) over this past weekend. There were a couple of booths that were selling warhammer and I kept jokingly asking if they had brought in any Tomb Kings. They asked around to see if they had any residual stock in the store (there wasn't) but they remembered that one of their coworkers had a sizable force he was considering to unload. So I go in the next day, make my same quip about TK and much to my happy surprise, there they were.

I think it is a fantastic deal. It definitely did drain all my "expendable" savings (and then some), but I am very happy with it.

Thank you! So am I. I think it gives me the flexibility to field a wide range of army setups.

I am actually currently painting up one of my two Chaos Marauder unit fillers. But don't tell @Crowsfoot ... it's a secret :D

Excellent now you have your TK army do it justice and give it a paint job it deserves, I know your a capable painter :)

Thank you for the vote of confidence. :):) The sad part for me is that I'm a very slow painter (if I paint fast, it looks horrible). I have to find a good way to paint bone more quickly. I can't use my current method on hundreds of skeletons.

Do you know of any good YouTube tutorials on how to paint bone to a good standard (i.e. a bit better than just table top quality) fairly quickly?

I think after all my long years on this forum, I shall have to create a paint blog!

Ok you don't need a video this is a fast and easy way to get the bone done.

1. Prime them with Army painter Skeleton bone.
2. Wash with a Agrax earhshade and Seraphin sepia wash mix 40/60 if you want it darker/lighter adjust accordingly (more Agrax for darker)
3. Drybrush with Skull white
4. Glaze with a diluted Agrax or Seraphin glaze depending on if you want them dark or light, dilute the shade by 50% use medium not water.
5. Apply detail etc.

Yeah. Warhammer was getting the axe, I did NOT like how End Times turned out for them, and then I was in a nasty car accident with my wife and to cover our bills I had to sell off a lot of my Warhammer and Warmahordes stuff.

I'm a huge fan of ancient Egypt, and Tomb Kings were a natural fit for me. I ran a combined arms attachment of Beastmen using Wargods of Aegyptus models. :)

I didn't like how the End Times turned out for anyone.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you both made a full recovery.

Sounds awesome. Maybe one day you can recreate the army again. I've always loved the aesthetics of Tomb Kings. I finally got around to picking up an army. Too bad they are one of the weaker armies (in 8th edition Fantasy). Either way, they should be fun to play!

That's sad when someone sells a beloved army, but sometime life just doesn't let us to choose...
Hope that now it's allright

Same for Bretonnia! Ridiciously high prices at Ebay. 120€ for a box that cost 50€ before GW discontinued the army. :(
