Since I love Slann and there is pretty much limited variation between the models available I've been wanting to run a competition for a long time to encourage people to try make their own, or convert the existing variations how they see fit. I can't offer any prizes however if anyone is willing to commit any prizes please let me know and we can raise the stakes of the competition, for now though this will be purely a competition for glory. Since converting and sculpting and everything take time I'll make this a long running competition to give everybody a fair chance to get into it, and to make sure we get enough entries. It seems like a good time to start this since
@Bracnos is right with the game release people will be making more Mazdamundis.
To make sure all entries are new you'll have to submit some WIP pics along with 'The Golden Slann' on a piece of paper (If anyone can volunteer a logo soon enough with that title then we'll make that available as a print out for aesthetic awesomeness next to your entries and WIP pictures).
Optimistically I'm going to include a painting competition section with this too.
The starting categories are as follows if there aren't enough entries into a particular category then I may have to merge them (I will make a public note of any intent to enter categories I get so you can see where a category may need your help):
Slann Conversion - Living
- MUST be a converted GW or FW model
- MUST remain unpainted for entry into the category (Primed is okay)
- you can convert the figures any way you wish provided they remain alive

- you may also provided a couple of explanatory lines be it lore or just a brief commentary on what you hoped to achieve
Slann conversion - Undead
- MUST be a converted GW or FW model
- MUST remain unpainted for entry into the category (Primed is okay)
- you can convert the figures any way you wish provided they stay dead

- you may wish to name your model
- you may also provided a couple of explanatory lines be it lore or just a brief commentary on what you hoped to achieve
Slann Custom - Living
- MUST NOT be a FW or GW model
- MUST remain unpainted for entry into the category (Primed is okay)
- you may start from nothing or use any base starting point provided it doesn't break the first rule
- you may also provided a couple of explanatory lines be it lore or just a brief commentary on what you hoped to achieve
Slann Custom - Undead
- MUST NOT be a FW or GW model
- MUST remain unpainted for entry into the category (Primed is okay)
- you may start from nothing or use any base starting point provided it doesn't break the first rule
- you may also provided a couple of explanatory lines be it lore or just a brief commentary on what you hoped to achieve
- Any models in the customs and conversions categories can then be painted and entered into the painting categories. I implore you to be as honest as possible when placing yourself in the category to give yourself and others a fair chance.
Living Slann painting Apprentice
- Filler text -pretty much paint a Slann don't know what else to write
Undead Slann painting Apprentice
- More filler text....
Living Slann painting Master
- Even more filler text...
Undead Slann painting Master
- Eve....come on now this is ridiculous...
General rules
- since this is basically the unofficial golden serpent equivalent competition (without prizes thus far

) it is important to keep your projects under wraps so they all get judged at the same time and as anonymously as possible
- you may have your converted Slann on any form of palanquin custom or otherwise i.e. even if you make a custom Slann you can present it on a typical GW palanquin if you desire (though the palanquin should remain unpainted and primed)
- you can present your conversions any way you wish in the pictures, but I would encourage an overall shot and some close ups of the main features you have created
- entries should be sent to myself with the subject title 'The Golden Slann -' followed by the category you are entering, if you are entering multiple categories make this as clear as possible to me in the message
- photos should be 2-3 WIPs and then any reasonable amount of photos to show off your model - it will be at my discretion how many of the model showcase images I show and what ones (I say this encase you send me 100's...please don't send me 100's
- Deadline will be the end of December for entries and judging will be open to the public in the new year (I hope that's okay with everyone)
Note to admins if you could bump this to a competition prefix that would be appreciated
Also anyone else contacting me for any reason regarding this is welcome too I'm a friendly fellow
Also also.... if I've missed anything out or not made anything clear point it out to me because I'm an idiot and should be publicly shamed as one
