New year, new me?!

Well let’s go with that. I have been lurking in the shadows for a long time on this forum and I think it’s about time I dip my toe into the spawning pool. I am starting this thread to hopefully hold me accountable with completing my Seraphon army.

So here is the background of this project; I started collecting Lizardmen a very long time ago (5th edition?). I never really stepped onto the battlefield, rather I was obsessed with painting and the models themselves. Keeping with this them theme of not really being a competitive player, the style of army will be focused on the skinks. That’s right, no saurus. Being completely honest I just do not like the new saurus models at all. Now, I say this but, I do have 105 metal 5th edition saurus temple guard that I will be building and painting (if you ever sold any OOP temple guard over the last few years on ebay, chances are I bought it). Additionally, I have just over 50 skink coldone riders (yeah I have a spending/hoarding problem… I’m not ashamed to say it). I’m hoping to play these as “count as” models for saurus coldone riders. Let me know your thoughts on using them as “count as” models.

So with all that talk, basically, I love the visual of little scurrying skinks weaving between the lumbering legs of the large dinos. So here is my game plan to hobby success:

January: Build 1000pts of AoS Seraphon

February: Paint and Build…. All day

So, let’s dive into January; The 1000pt target includes:

· 40 skinks (20 blowpipes 20 javelins)

· 1 skink priest

· 1 skink champion

· 3 kroxigors

· 2 salamandes

· 2 razadons (although I only have 1 and I am failing to find another to buy!)

· 3 skink handlers

· 1 stegadon

Side note: after posting my army list I got a lot of good feedback. So I ordered 3 more razordons (they came back in stock last night), and ill be building 20 more skinks to make a large unit of 40 with 2 units of 10 skinks, and build a few more priests.

Welcome to the madness of finally building and painting models that have been sitting around for a while!
 
January Status update:

So far I have built 40 skinks, 3 kroxigors, 2 salamander, 1 razordon, 3 skink hearders, and magnetizing the stegadon. Today I am finishing the stegs base and moving to some skink priests, and maybe a few more skinks. Enjoy the photos below.

That's one way to put it :D

Impressive army you have assembled, the skink theme will look really good. I like your basing so far.

Status update: finished the steg base, and my skink heros.

Tomorrows plan is to finish skink crew of the steg and try start and finish 20 additional skinks (just in case i want to change the army list). With all of that done, the 1000pts is complete except for 1 more razordon (there are 3 in the mail... i will build all 3 just in case i want to drop 2 salamanders for 2 razordons).

Additionally, I want to jump into painting ASAP, my vision is a lighter green skin with a darker green scale. i will use a bright red for tattoos (to make them pop) with a brass or rustic copper for the metals. bases will be dirt and a sandstone. let me know your thoughts!
 
Again phenomenal basing for your host of classic metal models, I am guessing you have one of those Aztec/Mayan/mesoamerican rollers for use in hobby projects? :pompus:

Nice use of Kroak's death mask on the base too

I have a few rollers from Greenstuff (i think that is the website). i Highly recommend them!
 
Ok status update! I have built and pinned 20 additional skinks, and worked further on the steg by magnetizing all the options. I still have to finish the magnets on the crews feet. I didnt get to finish the bases for the skinks or finish pinning all their feet due to my need to pick up a paint brush.

So here is some wasted time on trying to shake off the cobwebs and try some NMM technique (instead of sticking to my building schedule).

The plan for the next two days is to finish all these bases as i wait for the last 3 razordons to arrive in the mail. After that, it will be to mount the last 20 skinks, finish the magnets on the crews feet, and possibly make some cold one riders (will require a lot of pinning)

I will continue building as much as possibly until this month ends... then its airbrushing, painting, and spilling ink pots!!
 
Today's update: wasnt as productive as i wanted. i only finished magnetizing the steg and a little more filing and cleaning up of the crew. Tomorrow will be the start of bases. hoping to finish the bases Thursday night! Cheers
