Blog A Hatchlings Journey

This thread layed dormant for too long time.

But over the last two months, I had very little time for painting. Right now, I am back on it and finished most base painting stuff.

Next thing on my list will be getting the highlight/drybrush colour of skin and scales right. I want to get a more greenish/petrol/turquoise style.

Me neither. Strange. Most of the time picture embedding works well here on the forums.
@Crowsfoot or another staff member, can you check what could cause that?

So last night, I finally got to paint my first miniature. It's my testing dummie. I chose a saurus warrior, because with this guys I don't care as much about messing up.

It is not finished yet. I only put base color and shade on it. Next thing will be layer and then highlights. Take a look at the results.

I am not happy with the result. Right now it looks more or less exactly like the games Workshop standard scheme. The base colors came out very bright and light. I was aiming for the colors A2 and A4 (from my post above). On paper, the colors come out quite dark but on the miniature it got very bright. Maybe I should have mixed some black into.

Also, the result is more blue-ish than I wanted.

For the layer, I definitely want to go into a more greenish direction but without getting much lighter. But now I am scared of mixing the layer color.

That is ridiculously clean for a first time painter. Bravo

I would recommend painting your knights inn sub assemblies. That is, not having them attached to the cold ones

Sorry guys. I fixed the image problem in the posts above.

Also, I made some progress with the greenish scales. But now I have to do the shading all over again.
Three of the saurus warriors also received their turqouise skin color. Can you spot them? :D

Looking great!

Irony? ;)

Yeah, realized this too. Also the shields and some other parts. It's my first time doing this, so I have a lot to learn. Thanks for the tips!
Any time.seriously. I am happy to help.

Tip: go to Walmart or equivalent. Pick up Blu Tak (or " fun-tak" by loctite brand here in the states) and a package of jumbo popsicle sticks. It's a lifesaver
