It's funny how variable GW's prices are. How on earth can a single Warqueen model cost $40 when the Start Collecting! Kharadron Overlords box set only costs $100?!!?

And why would they sell the set for £50 when the contents 'cost' £95 separately. Great, but it makes a mockery of the whole pricing system.

Perhaps because Kharadron Overlords are so badass that they leave the Marauder queen in the dust? :p

Just kidding, @NIGHTBRINGER , all AoS single character packs are ridiculously expensive compared to the SC sets and units, even Dwarf characters. Still can't understand why they would sell a single Fyreslayer character for £15, almost half of the price of a set of 10 Fyreslayer core troops. Oh, how I long for the days of Fantasy to return when single characters were only £5. Even the plastic ones were under £10...

In all seriousness, I really do like that starter box. I was hoping for a frigate in there rather than a Gunhauler but it is very good value all the same - the single gunhauler box is £35, which means you're buying the Endrinmaster, Thunderers and Skywardens for £15, which is only £3 more than the cost of the Enrinmaster on his own, which mean you're buying the Skywardens and Thunderers for £3! :wideyed:

This actually looks better value than the Fyreslayers box. GW, you're tempting me...

It makes it really cost-effective to actually get the SC box to begin an army, making it really friendly to new players. In fact I do prefer them to the old Battalion boxes for fantasy because they really do give you everything you need to start a new army, whereas with the Battalion boxes you had to get a character model as well to be your general because they only contained several units. For instance the Lizardmen Battalion contained 20 Saurus, 12 Skinks, 10 Temple Guard and 8 Saurus Cavalry. A nice starter army except that you also need to either buy a character separately or convert one from the contents.

Agree with all but it still does not explain the pricing issue. I'm not naive to the fact that GW is a buisness and wants to make a profit, but almost £50 better off by buying the box?

Another example - why do GW sell a Carnosaur for £50 when you can buy it, 12 Warriors and a 8 Cavalry for the same price? Who buys the individual Carnosaur? Why?

    INSANE :)

They sorted that with Fyreslayers - the Magmadroth is unavailable individually as you can only get it with the SC box with is the same price, less than the original price. Probably they just haven't got round to sorting out the carnosaur yet because they're so busy with other armies.

Hahaha.... but shouldn't that mean that they would be more expensive (per model) than the Warqueen? A Ferrari is more badass than a Ford, but it also costs significantly more.

Joking aside, they do look like an interesting army.

It is a very nice set for a great price. GW's start collecting sets are great, but this one seems pretty exceptional even by those standards (just as the Seraphon one is pretty badass too).

I actually prefer these to the original Morathi model. Also I like her Orikan the Diviner-esque rule that causes her to transform into a huge Medusa but sacrificing her magic to do so.

Did you notice that Daughters of Khaine can now have an Avatar of Khaine like the Craftworld Eldar?

The serpentine one should be a nightmare to carry to games. The queen of transport issues!

Does this mean I have to dust off my Dark Elves? Been sitting in a box for years. Corsairs, War Hydra, Cold Ones, Black Dragon, Dark Steeds.... yep.

I think most of them haven't been painted :p Mostly the Cold Ones have been painted but the others are just primed. Shows how long it takes me to paint but then I dumped them early on in the hobby for Lizardmen so that would explain it.

That model is definitely not designed for gaming. That is more of a model for model's sake. Lovely sculpt, but as you said, difficult to transport safely.

Looks a bit big for a Coatl. Also there aren’t any official rules for them
