It works better with creams as the base colour, blues can look purple if you apply too much but your cold one looks really good.

Yep, that's kind of what started happening. It just didn't look natural… Next time I'll go for a cream colour on the belly and jaw I think.

    Hey everyone!
So I'm away from home for a week and I didnt want to pack my cold one + rider as the cold one is finished and I'd hate to damage a painted model, but still want to keep an eye on the cold one when painting the rider so that the colours don't clash too much…
As a result I thought i'd have fun exploring other stuff. And since i've been willing to do some training in painting skin tones, I got started on this guy yesterday. Hopefully it'll be done, or almost, today! The shading went fine but as i'm working with mixes instead of purple from a pot, I had trouble getting back to my base colour and that messed up the gradient a little. I'll be careful next time and hopefully glazes will help with building a better fade :bucktooth:
Sorry, pictures are bad again as I left my camera home.
Anyway, please let me know me what you think :D

    @Aginor thanks!
Did some more work on the skin today. I'm almost done here, just some glazing left which I'll do once the rest is completed. Also I laid down the base colours for the other parts of it, except for the metal because of the varnish issue. As usual the pic dims the highlights quite a bit. Anyway, hope you guys like it!

Cheers :) although I have to say the pic makes them look smoother than they actually are as it tones down the highlights...

    Hey everyone,

Making progress on the poxwalker, it's almost complete now. Glazed the skin with some mistakes (too much glaze on the nipples and other areas so it started pooling a little and left marks… or is it the consistency maybe, too much water? @Crowsfoot , @Xlanax_lot mind giving me your opinion on that matter?), highlighted the leather, did the cloth (a bit quickly, that contrast is way stronger than the fade i initially had in mind)… it's pretty much done now.
I'm ok with how it turned out, could've spent more time on the rotten parts and put some highlights back on the skin as the glazes toned it down a little, but this was supposed to be a quick paint between two lizards so I won't push it. Also, the pic makes it look darker than it actually is.
Last things to do are the base, then varnish, then metallic parts, and then on to the next model!

Let me know what you think and what you would have done differently if you were me :)

    Cheers!!

I don't have a lot to do right now except lying in bed feeling awful, so that's a good chance to catch up with the forums a bit. :)

I have been blessed by Nurgle with a pretty heavy flu. I haven't been that sick in two decades. It is slowly getting better now at least but I am getting sick of it.
I can't work and I cannot paint either. It sucks.

The flu is an epidemy in Germany right now, half of the people I know either have it right now or have had it in the last few months.

@Aginor Eww. Viel Glück with your recovery… That kind of flu is very bad when it does get you. Had a terrible one a year ago. :lurking:
