Thanks a lot... Actually can't take much credit as that wasnt entirely intentional. XD 'derpiness' is a very good word for these cold ones though! As accurate as I've read lol.

    Hey everyone !
It's been a while since I found any time to paint but I found a way to get this guy started (until i can find the arms for that Cold one rider and complete it).
It's obviously still a WIP but i'm having a blast painting it, it's my favourite model in the set by far. If the fates allow i'll get it finished soon!

    Hope everyone's great :)

    Hey all,

So long story short, with all that's been going on I've recently found myself almost locked up with not much else to do but get back to painting! Which is always a pleasure.
So here's what's on at the moment! (Yes, it is Theoden in the background with base colours barely started…)

    Hope everyone's staying safe.

Very nice. I like the purple paint scheme.

The Spectral heads are very well done
I love the extreme highlights on the executioner's cloak, that makes him really 'come to life' ;)

Hey friends! Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season in spite of everything.

Back at work after a break due to moving around a lot. I got the chance to paint some LOTR stuff for a friend! Theoden, and a bunch of tabletop + wood elves and Galadhrim. Hope you like them! There's more LOTR action to come as I'm taking on a wee commission in January, with both good and evil models, and after that some Seraphon action :)
    All the best for 2021!

It has been a while. Glad to see you back and what a great comeback :wideyed::woot::artist::artist:

Well painted models, I love your Theoden and Galadhrim Elves. The Wood Elves are done great as well.

Nice things to look forward to, have a great 2021 yourself ;)

@Imrahil Thanks!! It's been a long and complicated year indeed, many of my plans had to be adjusted because of the situation and hobbying tends to like smooth and stable conditions… So I'm really glad I got the time to saddle up again. I see you've been quite busy yourself too by the looks of your thread!! Keep it up!

Also realised I forgot to upload pictures of this little fella! Poxwalker 2 of 5 complete. It's my favourite one in this set by far, the model is simply stunning IMHO, all the more since it's such a basic troop miniature.

Also took a few additional shots of the elves.

    Have a great week all

    Arigato gozaimass!!!
Well there really is no secret, it's dozens of hours upon dozens of hours… Sooth to say it was quite difficult to get through all of them.
I actually counted how much time it took to paint the last 15 (I did 3 16ish batches), which were the basic wood elves without the beautiful yet annoying TM armours: about 28 hours of painting alone. Add assembly, basing and priming, that's a good 2h per model if not more, times 48…………… :muted: no wonder I was getting headaches in the end.
But hey, i'm happy with the result!! And I think it really is important to paint lots of models sometimes, it just helps you see which steps are most important and what really is worth your time when painting tabletop + :woot:

    Toltecatl-san, your work is amazing.

I'm detecting an oriental vibe here with that Japanese thank you. Is that where you are from?

    Hey everyone!

Been very busy for a while so I didn't take the time to post on here, which is wrong. So here are a few pics of my latest stuff!

    DSCN1390.JPG

I painted this guy a while ago. Not very good with that ghostly atmostphere yet. I've been buying a few more nighthaunt models so hopefully practice will help!

Then I managed to paint up a ravenwing guy from the Dark vengeance set. bought the Marine part a while ago and I'm hoping to paint them all before 2022.

    DSCN1100.JPG

Also got started on Mollog's mob, but I'm not done with the whole gang yet. I really like the way he came out though, and it's definitely an encouragement to go on to more monster-like creatures soon (hopefully my Seraphon army in 2022!)

Lastly, I took up a commission for Dol Amroth knights this month, which interrupted my painting of Mollog's mob, but the minis look good and they gave me an opportunity to have loads of fun with my bases.

And here are additional shots of the Dol amroth guys. Hope our friend Imrahil will like them ;)
Anyway, that's about it for now, it's been a real busy time. Hopefully I can get more stuff finished soon, I'll try and take the time to turn on my computer and post some WIPs as well!
Hope everyone is doing good, have a great summer if you're in the Northern hemisphere.

Fine work on all of them!

Yellow is hard to pull off, would you share the recipe for the troll skin with us?

Thanks! I did find it hard but mostly because any darker paint, specks of dust etc will show, and because it's SLOW. yellow has very poor coverage so it's quite hard to cover up any mistakes you make.
As for the recipe I'm not sure I remember which ones I used precisely but the general idea is as follows:

    White primer (obviously)
Model colour yellow + a bit of Prince august light bone colour as base
shades of Golden yellow (GW), then adding some fiery orange (GW) and finally some Model colour magenta
back to your base to start a gradient with the shadings
highlight by adding more and more bone colour then white
in between highlights you can add glazes. I used mostly magenta and a bit of green if I remember correctly (although that mightve been for the whites).

So here it is, go nuts! I'll try and find some WIP pics if I haven't erased them all ;)
