I think that is GWs thing now. Hide structural supports in ruined terrain.

Yeah and it really works well for a lot of models I must say.
I am looking forward to seeing more of those models since I am very curious how they will hold up when actually playing. Some Kharadron models have problems there (at least I heard people saying that).

If that happens I'd just find a way to add extra reinforcement

Yes. We're talking about making miniaMinia that clulc be top heavy and offset from center falling on thier own and needing reinforcement to the connection to the base

    I am one of those.
We have "heavy" models like the frigate, standing upon a small flying stand, and if it breaks things are not pleasant. Compare it to the massive flying stands of the flyers in 40k...

Brass rod, connected to a sufficient terrain piece such as a wall or burning building

Sure, it is fixable. But it's better when you don't have to spend time upon it. ;)

I agree the models could be better designed for gaming, yes.

And it isn't only playing with them, it makes some of them tricky to transport as well.
A good example is our Troglodon. Really impractical to transport. And I think that's true for many newer models as well, like some of the Daughters of Khaine or the Idoneth Deepkin.

Oh yea. The big models are an absolute pain to transport

I think GW's new models, while pretty stunning, are not realistically meant for gaming. Let alone meant for ease of transport.

I'm sure they are aiming the products now as a series of boutique miniatures for collectors

Nothing wrong with that. I don't plan on using any of them for gaming anyways. At least I get to view a bunch of nice pictures of great looking models.

I was gonna say, you plan on enjoying unpainted plastic on a shelf?

I should have clarified, I haven't been purchasing any of the new models because they don't fit into WFB. I do enjoy looking at the pictures of the models and other people's fantastic paint jobs.

I field my unpainted models in my 8th edition games. Heck, it works out even better since I am not worried about chipping the paint during game play!

The Mortis engine is a pain to store and play with but it is doable you just have to be careful

Yeah I transport most of my larger models in a padded out cardboard box in a bag.
I'm glad my focus is on the fish Cav/monsters... I have two of the Mortarchs and both of them broke, they are mostly supported on their back end. I did change one up a bit so the support is a bit better but still broke in storage.
