    Thanks for the encouragement folks!

Didn't want to show things so piecemeal and thus decided to finish this lizard off with basing and gluing. I got a stone sign someone threw away at work, and chipped it up for the base. I washed the rocks in various earthy colors for variety. I used army painter black battlegrounds as my sandy base aspect, but decided to make it greener later on. For the photos I once again made use of my little lightbox.

Now for the second important part of bringing the host back together, comparing the old work!

Must have been when I was 12 or so. I bought and painted most of my models with the 6th edition book. I really love the new carnosaur model, his size and stance is so impressive!

All advice is welcome! I'm still looking for a mini pentaceratops for use on a saurus cowboy or whatever his current name is. I expect I might also try my hand at converting with green stuff when the mood strikes me within the next month.

A very nice rocky base for that Carnosaur!

I was really shocked when I lined up the newer carnosaur model next to the stegadon... it makes the stegadon look tiny too!

I don't know how I missed Lagiacrus as a good colour scheme to vary up Saurus a bit; he looks great! I may have to take, uh, "inspiration" for my own army... :D

Although for genuine inspiration I'm now considering how a Tigrex Carnosaur would look...

I would love it if the Stegadon and the Bastiladon were a bit bigger still.
But yeah the Carno has a great size.

Monster Hunter has been taking me hostage for a while now, but things are getting done! Skink chief has some paint, and I'm prepping a bit of a special saurus. Not sure if mass production of saurus spearmen will start for a while yet.

Seeing the forums weird redirect scared me a bit, but glad everyone else's forums are still here! Lots of talent and hours to not have a special place for.

Here's March's work! Skull helm skink chief from the 5th edition I believe. I also entered him into the competition going on currently. In retrospect I could have gotten rid of mold lines a bit better, but I'm happy with this repainted. Sadly didn't take a photo of his previous paint job for comparison. Awesome work, hope he does well in the painting competition.

Quick question. In your experience, how securely does that GW paint handle hold models on square bases?

On this size miniature which is the default for human sized models (saurus have a big bigger base and I haven't tried them out) they are snug and aren't going to move. I've tried flicking them like flinging paint off a brush with no slip from the mini, and that's with a metal miniature like this skink chief. In the picture I was just using the holder as a stand to raise up the viewing angle a bit, and he would have moved easily in that configuration. I used the lower tier of clasp on this guy with no problems, and I think you could clasp him on the upper tier without complaint as well. Apparently it also allows for rectangular bases as well, but again I haven't tried it.

Tldr, very secure, no complaints, haven't tried bigger square bases yet.

Might be neat to give a shot to. Have to put it in a cardboard box or something to not splatter my wall though. I've now tried out different base sizes with the citadel miniature holder. Saurus sized square bases are held very well and shouldn't move with any amount of dog or cat smacking your hand. Cavalry in the form of long rectangular bases are more likely to move with drastic wrist annihilating hand spasms (When shaking it, the cavalry would eventually pop out). They also seem to slide a bit easier than square bases, but all this is relative. I doubt the hardest of drybrushing would move them. So maybe aggressive cutting, filing, or drilling would be best done without the handle. Kroxigor, rat ogre, and larger bases don't fit, at least for rectangular bases. Not sure about their modern circular counterparts (don't own any yet).

Tldr once again, works well up till kroxigor sized bases. Then they no longer fit.

Looks like I have a short side-job and the pay is miniatures! Old miniatures and ones I know nothing about! My job is getting them out of a friend's house, and painting select few to use as decorations. The rest of the models I get to keep! I haven't looked through all of it yet, but here are a smattering of examples. IMG_4301.jpg Going to apparently be plenty of cases like this.
IMG_4302.jpg No horses in these crates, but plenty of these guys.
    IMG_4303.jpg
One old cold one. No dark elf seen yet. These guys' hands creep me out.
    IMG_4304.jpg
And a few animals from this range. Also have a duck gladiator and a bear philosopher it appears. If people know brand names for these I'd be appreciative! Hope this is interesting to others, they are like opening packs of trading cards to me!
