Hello boys and girls and welcome to Let's Get Motivated - May 2018

This thread is too get us motivated each month into finishing projects that we have on the go, the rules are fairly simple.

At the start of the month post what you intend to try and finish this month, it can be models/terrain/conversions of any game type. No pressure if you don't finish anything this is for motivation nothing else.

Around the middle of the month post your progress, no images please, if you have want to share your progress with images, upload them into your blog and supply a link.

Around the end of the month post your progress, again no images, if you have finished a piece upload the images into your blog and supply a link.

The reason I don't want images in this thread is too get everyone that takes part views in their personal blog where the community can critique, etc.

You don't have a paint blog? well get one started in this forum section.

If you need advice etc post here and the community will try and answer.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress

Cheers Crowsfoot

A lot of mine depends on when my airbrush turns up from the states. Cheap it was, but quick shipment it was lacking... Alas.

Regardless, I will alternate plans for priming and at the very least et the following done:

40 Grots
1 banner lad (mostly done now already)
1 shaman

Anything else will be a bonus. I am absolutely going to get the horde of grots done before I get onto painting the fun stuff in this army. We'll see how long that resolve lasts.... They're actually very simple to paint, so I don't really have much of an excuse.

So I've not done one of these before, so I'm going to be a little conservative with what I think I can accomplish in this amount of time.

List of to-do's for the month
-Oldblood / Carnosaur model
-The rest of my skinks, 12 in total
-Base my solardon
-fully paint one leader unit to be determined at a later date
-figure out the color scheme for my cold ones

Probably nothing because I’ve got a ridiculous amount of University work to do - so much that I haven’t any time for painting.

You’ll see my answer in June (and five days in that month I won’t be active because I’ll be on holiday in sunny Cornwall - I’d send you all ice creams but I don’t know where any of you live :p)!

Let's do it.

  • Two Morchast Archai/Winger Reaper or whatever... for my own i call them Baneful Seraphim.
  • My first Hexwraith/Limbo Horseman to try the color schema
  • Four simple zombis
  • A very old conversion of chaos dwarf
  • Write something new (in french)
  • Translate another chapter of my current story on vampirecounts.net

My 1500 point game is Thursday and my 2000 point game (final for the Spring League I'm playing in) will be on some as-yet-determined day in the seven days following that, Friday-Thursday next (well, the shop is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but still). I'm way behind on painting for this week, but the way my lists are built, I may be able to field a fully painted 2000 point army despite the unlikelihood of my completing the painting of the 1500 point list. With that in mind, my goals are mainly in the front half of the month.

  • Paint one Bastiladon.
  • Paint Lord Kroak.
  • Paint one Saurus Astrolith Bearer.
  • Build, prime, and paint five Chameleon Skinks.
  • Paint five already built and primed Chameleon Skinks.
  • Build, prime, and paint three Ripperdactyl Riders.
  • Paint one Balewind Vortex.
  • Paint twenty Saurus Warriors.

With the completion of the Spring AoS League, I'll probably turn my attention to my Sisters of Battle army for Warhammer 40K. I'll first make a survey of my models (my current survey is woefully out of date), then probably build a vehicle or two or a Penitent Engine. Then I'll familiarize myself with the 40K rules (haven't played the new edition) and try to build lists for the upcoming 40K League at the local GW shop.

As I started working on the solar engine and crew for my bastilladon it might be possibly possible that I might finish this model by the end of the month... possibly...

This month over on Getting the Host Back Together, the same one saurus who was my first attempt at green stuff. Following that, I got a stegadon at half price at the local comic shop but there isn't any way I'm starting that yet. Most likely and noble goal this month is going through my new large collection of old miniatures, sorting them, and determining their likely cost.

Okay, I may be overreaching a bit here, but I'm going to set my goals out there for this month. I have a friend who has sent me some Silver Tower models to paint up for him as my part in a trade. I don't have a rush on these or anything, and I want to do a really good job for him, but I don't want to take forever in getting them back to him, so I'll set my goals high and see if I can push myself.

Here's my list for this month:

Ogre Thundertusk
Skaven Screaming Bell
Wood Elf BSB
Random models that strike my fancy.
(Here's his models I'll be painting for him.)
10 Infernal Guard
Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch
2 Pink Horrors
8 Chaos Familiars
6 Tzaangors
8 Kairic Acolytes

Phew! That's a lot, but I think I can do it!

Actual first goal for may:

Remaining lot of salamanders on the painting table
Commission of 16 stormcast and 10 wolves

Actually, scratch all of that.

I played my 1500 point game partially unpainted, but have completely rewritten my 2000 point list so that I have a prayer of getting everything painted for it over the next few days while Gwenda is in California. It will involve:

  • Building, priming, and painting three Ripperdactyl Riders
  • Building, priming, and painting two Salamanders
  • Painting a Slann Starmaster
  • Painting a Saurus Astrolith Bearer
  • Painting a Batiladon

After that, I will turn my attention to the Monster Mash and paint up my Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur.

And I've decided against trying to get ready for the 40K League, as it just starts too soon (May 18th). Instead, I plan to play in a one day Age of Sigmar tournament at another local shop on the fourth Saturday of this month. Depending on how my fourth League game goes, I'm planning on using the same 2000 point list I'll have painted for that game, though I may fiddle with it a little.

I think I can manage buildung and painting a carno and 24 warriors this month, as well as finishing the coversions I can with the starters
