Back when AoS launched I tried to get my brother into playing the game. He decided to go with Lizardmen and purchased a load of random stuff from ebay in various conditions. He didnt have as much time to get fully stuck in and they ended up sitting in a box for about 3 years. Long story short he moved house and I welcomed his pile of scaley buggers into my collection.

I have painted more in the last 2 years than I have in my entire on and off 15 year relationship with wargaming. So I wanted to upload and keep a log of my progress on them both to motivate me to get them done alongside other projects but also get some feedback.

I like painting things quick and dirty with heavy use of an airbrush, using a few techniques like gloss washes, gloss paints and water colour pencils for fast highlighting. I wanted to make my Lizardmen look as dark and evil as I could, avoiding the use of any bright colours.

The collection in question

First tester models to try out a gloss black dingy look.

Finished the Carno and Slann (minus the base) Really happy with the vibe they are giving. Thinking about a dead forest type mix of basing materials with pva mixed in and sprayed glossy to give it a 'wet' look. Not sure how I'll do that yet though!

Welcome!
Interesting art style, I am curious how those models will evolve. :)

Ooooo I really like the softer (underbelly) skin tones - nice

Look forward to seeing how this progresses

It is, probably why it needs what looks like a metal rod to hold it up!

Good use of bits, it looks great!

Got the base tests done on the Carno and Slann, so they are finished!

Really fantastic! I didn't think such a dark color scheme would have worked out, but I think the green-green leaves really helped bring out the detail on that slann. Your basing work looks great too; really wet-jungly looking. Got any more pictures of the two?

I like the dingy feel to these guys, they look like they’ve come straight out of the shadowfell! Keep it up!

Thanks! Yeh im happy with how the bases turned out! Just kind of pulled some bits together to make it work, a forest mix I bought, some fish tank plants chopped up and sprayed gloss black (the paint didnt take well at all to the ultra plasctic feel of them but it work out showing some of the original colours through the paint that didnt stick.) Then I sprayed some spots gloss black and then again with gloss varnish!
