Yeah, Germany doesn't look very champion like. Good game by Mexico. Last time they played against each other it was 4:1 for Germany. Going to be an interesting few minutes before the end now.
He's definitely the best player in the world, helps of course he's playing in a pretty easy 3 team league. Let's be honest, he looked completely lost in that first game, let's hope for more in the next one!
Maybe, or maybe not. Some years ago sure, but actually CR7 has improved a lot and Messi is no more the absolute martian he was used to be (even if Messi at his top is superior than Ronaldo at his top). Plus, I believe that Ronaldo is more a leader than Messi, when it comes to motivate their team. But that's an impression, i cannot tell for sure.
Messi is a more complete player. They are both sublime goal scorers, although it must be said that on the whole Messi scores more impressive looking goals. In addition, Messi comes out on top in many other respects: Messi has infintely better dribbling skills (the best the world has ever seen) Messi is a FAR better playmaker Messi has superior sportsmanship (isn't flopping around trying to draw a free kick or penalty) Messi is more responsible defensively Ronaldo does have superior heading/aerial skills.
Not a lot of Messi right now. ...but Argentina's goalie....uh... that was...bad. and hilarious at the same time. I still feel bad for him.
Yeah what was definitely not good. But then all the favourites seem to have a hard time, I was also disappointed by France, Germany, Spain and others.
I guess it was good for Croatia! I never considered Argentina to be a favourite in the tournament. They barely even qualified for the tournament. They needed a hat trick by Messi in their final qualifying game to do so. The problem is that outside of Messi the team is pretty poor. One man, even arguably the greatest of all time, can't do it all by himself.
Sure. But Agűero and a few others aren't too bad normally, I have no clue what happened to them lately.
Somebody should invent a game which has baskets, nets, goalposts, and goal lines plus (at least) three different types and shapes of ball. And call it Sports Ball.
I don't think there is a possibile debate. He can be the greatest of this time but he cannot stand in front of some older players. And i am not only thinking to Maradona. But yes, He certainly is in the top players ranking of football history
Soccer is a team game. You have to avoid the temptation of conflating team achievement with individual excellence. Messi is the most skilled player of all time. Meaning if you and I were to coach against each ohter, with $1 billion on the line, and we could chose any players from any time in their prime, if you were to choose anyone other than Messi with your first choice you would be doing yourself a massive disservice.
Speaking of teams: What the hell...!? Costa Rica is playing against Brasil right now. 88th minute.... still 0:0????
