Yes but at the tournaments do they treat him as a monster or not?

to be fair, it makes sense.
He is the Godfather of Monsters!
when i am going to play with my friends, i would let him be a monster for sure.
Cover for a dread, that goes not close to his torso should not count ;)

    I like the changes!
Heal every turn and doesnt have to do dmg,
you can count how much dmg he will do, not d6 anymore so 6 dmg save!
lost some rend, but still some.
And the skink buff is so nice, dont need any command points for Battleshocks.

And for the extra Bonus: Now you can summon him for 40 points!
really a lot, but just for the fun i will do it once and look at my opponents terrified face :)

And 40 points to summon in, that won't be happening in most battles.

I think that's fair. He's definitely well costed now considering his rule tweaks.. And lets be honest, summoning a Dread Saurian would have been pure cheese. If you make it your only focus then it can be done, but you'll lose before you can do it I'd think.

Well, it's probably stronger than before! :D

except for the -1 rend to jaws. That's stupid. :(
At least, this is somehow mitigated by the change to mystic shield

Ok, that is a REAL nerf we have here:
Gargantuan Jaws: -1 Attacks, Rend reduced by 2 (-3 -> -1 [TadaAaA]). At least they quit the random part of the dmg.... Now it just downscales by wounds.
Raking Claws: No random attacks, same mechanism as above, rend INCREASED (¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?) better to hit (+4 -> +3)
New attack: 1 hit 4+, 3+ to wound, rend -1 and dmg 1d6, they try to compensate the -3 Rend of the jaws with this -1 rend stupid single attack, (very random)
    HABILITIES:
Roar of ruin: before, -2 to bravery in battleshocks, now -1 (it must have become cuter, less dread thats how i take it)
Arcane glyphs: NERF, before it could heal 1d3 in BOTH TURNS, yours and your opponent, while he did dmg (which you will try very hard to), now just in your Hero phase (nerfed literally by halving it)
New skill: Primal presence: i believe it should be any saurus more than skink, since skinks have aready their battleshock buffed by stegadons, but that is the least of my concerns (also it has a decent range)
    SUMMONING:
before: on a roll of 11 (almost perfect roll 5/6 or 6/6) but just 1 more than other big monsters, that were 10+ difficulty. Why didnt they put him in 30 points (next in point summoning scaling) or 36 (2 steps beyond) and decide to use 40........ AINT NOBODY HAS GOT PATIENCE TO KEEP YOUR ARMY DYING WHILE YOU KEEP YOUR POINTS SAVED FOR DREAD SAURIAN.

Things like this are the ones that make me want to play more balanced games, AoS lots of fantasy if you like frickin' golden mr perfect in golden armours.

I think it's quite balanced, no body will try to summon in at 40 points so you include him and summon in other units.

Teleport him in and with a potential of 34 wounds that ain't bad, it will take focused attacks to kill him quickly, just teleport him back out.

It's still very powerful for 420 points. I think you need to compare it to other things available in other armies instead of knee jerking your toys all the way out of the sandpit.

The rend nerf hits hard though! If it is going to fight something with a 3+ save the 3 rend was gonna do the job, 1 rend is painfull

the rend nerf is a shame, but i can live with that.
he will get a starpriest all the time with his serpeant staff,
so if he manage do get just one jaw hit, kabuuuuuuuum 12 dmg!!! :)

question: the starpriest buff gives double dmg to his 2 attacks.
    what is with his talon?

one jaw hit on a 6 to wound  not that big a chance with 3 attacks. If it hits though and the save is failed. damnnn

Rend-Nerf is okay, because i often faced armys with a save with 5+ or 6+, so it often was useless.
And there is no so much random-Damage.
