    Hey Lustria,

I been off the hobby for a few months, and just slowly creeping back into it "as we all do", but am over whelmed by the new GHB! don't get me wrong, it looks amazing, but unfortunately i havent had time to go over it completely and/or thoroughly as i would like.... but none the less here is a few things i have come up with, again i'm am very unfamiliar with the new rules

I was looking into Summoning, as that was my primary interest when i first got into the hobby, and now with these new mechanics, it's made things very exciting!
So, i was looking into what would be the most valuable summoning unit that i could build my army around?? i first thought the bastiladon, as you get a great trade between Celestial Conjuration points and army points, 24cc for 280pts "seems good"
but then i thought, lets go really crazy with summoning, and summon an EotG to then summon more units! only 18cc for 220pts + more (20x skinks 120pts, 10x warriors 100pts, 3x riders 140pts), at this point, it seems like EotG is a no brainer... and if you can summon an EotG every turn (which isnt hard to do) and have a slann or kroak to help! not only would the value conversion be great, but you will be adding 30 more wounds to your army every turn (if you summoned skinks) plus capturing objectives would be easy!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have attached a list i'm going to work on, it is in the early days of development, but let me know what you think :) for now it's 1500pts... interested on what you guys would do

Kroak - if he can now use CELESTIAL DELIVERANCE 3x, i figure it is another no brainer to have him in a list, just for the shear mortal wound output, plus sniping enemy heros

Astro Bearer - to increase range of kroak, and more CC

Slann Starmaster - use him to buff and summoning! summon EotG, then get EotG to summon more untis (EVERY TURN from turn 2)

Shadowstrike Starhost - to distract the enemy while you set up endless spells/kroak, and snipe big threats (hero/wizard/monsters/hordes)

Prismatic Palisade - block LoS to protect your heros

Balewind Vortex 2x - put both frogs on them, get more CCs and increase range of kroak

With a slann as general you generate

9+1+D3 (with an Astrolith bearer) so a Maximum of 14 CP which is not enough to generate one Engine per turn

With the BWV extra spell you will get 14 (max) in the First round and 17(max) im the upcoming rounds wich is still not an guaranteed Engine

Also the Engine cant auto summon u new Unit, somewhere in the Forum is a thread about the Statistic of the Engine i Think it was something about 30% with CoF

The list is really strong as it combines Kroak and a Shadowstrike Starhost but it's not a summon spam list ;)

Sorry that won't work. You see only allowed to use one at a time.

Uhh... somewhere in the Endless Spells rules in the GHB and/or the Malign Sorcery book. I will double check at home.

All I can find is this Pg 53 Malign Sorcery bottom left, this points to you can have 2 BWV if you have the models for it.

Can you check the matched play section of the GHB? I thought it was in there...

I'm pretty sure its only 1 active endless spell of each type in play at once.

The wording in the Malign Sorcery book seems to suggest that, yes. You can only choose models that aren't already on the table at that point.

GHB page 48 says that one player is not allowed to have more than one.

EDIT: both of those are in the core book as well, pages 262 and 310

The interesting part now is: can both players place one, or can you block your opponent from using a BWV by using it yourself?

The wording on Pg 262 says “you cannot” so both can have one on the table or it would say “you and your opponent cannot” that’s how I read it.

Blocking your opponent like that seems like a terribly unfun rule. Based on that alone I would already say you can both cast it.

Plus as @Crowsfoot says the wording does support both being able to cast it.

Nah, you can both purchase a single Balewind in your army list, and both you and your opponent can have a max of one each in play.

In general I would put Kroak on the Balewind, as increasing the range of Deliverance is so OP its absurd.

Is there actually a reason as to why all endless spells can only be cast once? I get the idea of now allowing 10 purple suns on the field, even if I would love to be able to do just that, but say 10 balewinds don't seem anywhere near as problematic.

mwha, unless you can box the entire enemy army in I don't think it'd be as problematic as you'd expect on first glance. There's only a handfull of models that'd benefit from being boxed in themselves (e.g. Kroak, or skaven acolytes) so abusing it in that way is probably going to be fairly ineffective. Plus it also means your stuck in that position.

Plus, we can still have (some) limits. I just don't see why it needs to be 1 for everything. Balewinds shouldn't be problematic. Lifeswarm & cogs you can simply say they don't stack. Quicksilver swords already only attack 1 target anyway, it's that they have a high theoretical maximum but given how unlikely that is 2 or 3 of em probably aren't going to be particularly oppresive either. Spellportal should be completly fine (and you could Always disallow chaining it through portals) For the buffs/debuffs of stuff like the burning head again, just say it doesn't stack.
The only one that's properly problematic is the purple sun, and that's cuz it instantly slays stuff. Everything else should at least be doable to balance with multiple flying around without completly gimping them.

Also I’m pretty sure (haven’t got the rule book to hand) but I think you can (providing you have the points) summon an eog with cc in the ‘movement phase’ thus you can’t then summon a unit with the new eog on that turn as it uses is ability in the ‘hero phase’
So first glance it looks great - but really you will be summoning an eog turn 2 (then ever other turn so 2 and 4) then attempting (30% Chance) to then summon skinks on the third turn.

In my opinion you should summon a dread Saurian ;D
I did all the math (took me ages as I was tired and got distracted)
But basically with Kroak as your general and an astrolith - using all 4x spells round 1 then 3x spells round 2 (for shackles or prism for blocking/comit for damage) then all 4 spells round 3.
You then will have generated between 39-45 cc (so providing your astrolith scores more than 1 in a d3 in any of those turns (you can use kroaks ability to attempt a re-roll if by turn 2 you didn’t get a 2/3)
That my friend is a dread Saurian being plopped onto the battlefield when the opponent certainly doesn’t want to be seeing one.
If you want an eog drop the slaan and get one to sit with Kroak for turn 1 (remember kroaks re-rolls) for a much better shot at 20skink etc from turn 1 and so on.
If your opponent comes in hot and heavy - so you aren’t able to store up cc - Kroak can easily go on the offensive and burst some skulls.

I wont be surprised to see EotG go up 24 points just for consistency, let alone the ability to power one out on t2. Just seems odd for it not to be 24 since the stegadon is.
