I mentioned in my introduction that almost two decades has passed since I last touched a brush, let alone painted a miniature, so I've had to do a little bit of research and a fair bit of trial and error to land upon a colour scheme that suited personal preference.

I bought a Get Started Box and a box of Skink Skirmshers, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to use the former for the bitz so I can convert the latter into something that'll be akin to Skink Skirmishers meets Gladiator. "Are you not entertained!?"

I'll give it a go at converting a full command group (an homage to Fantasy I suppose, where it all began for my part, all those years ago). I'm also debating which colour to use for the crest; I am not that fond of the purple, and at the moment I am leaning towards a bright green.

EDIT: I'm considering painting the shields using the tutorial on Warhammer TV Tip of the Day (Duncan) for Jade Weapons, again, for a bit of contrast to the bright orange. And I reckon it would add a bit of flair and flavour to the models!

Bright green, yellow or red.

Did you prime him white?

The shoulder plates on the Skink look awesome!

I want a bit of contrast, so I might go for the bright green. I am afraid that yellow or red would disappear when at a distance. Thanks for the suggestions though! I used Averland Sunset (spraycan) for the basecoat.

Thanks! I snagged them from the sprue of the Alpha Saurus Warrior!

Goblin highlighted with warpstone then

Awesome! Thanks for the advice! I've used pen and paper thus far, but my scatter-brain will probably misplace it at some point, and I'm much more mindful of where I put my phone, so no risk of losing that important data now!
Definitely. It's helped me out a bit. I had an index card system previously

I decided to give the tutorial for Jade Weapons on Warhammer TV a go, but on a shield, and now I am debating which colour to use for the 'knives'. Should I go for gold, or perhaps copper, bronze or even iron? I'll later use these shields I 'borrowed' from the Saurus Warriors Box for my Skink Skirmishers.

I've tweaked the colour scheme for my Skink Skirmishers a little bit. I decided to paint their scales Temple Guard Blue - hoping to get a little more contrast - the Alpha will be painted Mephiston Red and get Sotek Green scales.

Constructive critism is welcome!

Thank you! I hope it'll all work together once I've completed them.

Glad to hear it! I am contemplating adding a varnish to give it some shine. Thoughts?
That can work but don't overdo it. It may look more wet-shiny than gem-shiny.
I use gloss varnish on gems but haven't fully figured that out myself.

Valid point! I'll leave it as is in that case.

I've begun painting seven more shields, and I decided I wanted small splashes of colour here and there, so the tassels (or whatever you wish to call them) seemed a good place to start. I've also settled - until I change my mind, again - on iron for the metal parts! I'll shade and highlight those parts later on, but this is my progress so far.
