lol i only swapped because of the campaign im in we get a month to paint a unit to put in our army and each month we get a new unit. i started the carnisaur but changed my mind to using a slann. so poor carny is on the after burners until i finish the campaign
Slowly getting there lol. Very slowly.. im thinking maybe went a little too dark with the flesh, what does everyone think?
Soooooo it's been awhile since i posted. But ive finally finished my ripperdactlys. Quite happy with the end results. Unfortunately i had to rush doing the rides for competition commitments but they can be fixed up later on.. So here we go. Actually didn't have a brown paint i liked to use for the tree so i ended up just using shades on it. 2 shades of reikland fleshshade then 1 coat of agrax earthshade. Did this process 4 times to get it where i liked it. So about 12 layers on it lol. And this is where i started to run out of time, decided thats it drybrush it lol
I like it! Really dynamic looking bases. My only suggestion would be to add a little bit of foliage to the ends of the tree stumps to break up the outline. A little bit of clump foliage or even some hobby moss will make the trees look that much better!
Cheers warden. Yeah i still want to do a couple things to them, like have snakes coming down the trees, some moss and a skeleton hung from the tree but i ran out of time. Im in a path to glory comp at our local store and we get a unit every month. If it's painted before the next month .we get a bonus glory point lol hence why it was rushed in the end. I spent way too much time working it how to do the trees and work got in way. But your definately right. After the comp I'll be adding stuff to most of the minatures ive done.
Comps are a great way to get motivated to complete projects... the forum comps have definitely helped me before!
Next up was another bastiladon. This one i managed to finish in under 15 hours, which is a record for me lol.. really happy with the result i surprised even myself, didn't think id be able to do it. These were the base paints that i used. This time ive tried a couple techniques ive never used before like multiple issues of shades, base and layer paints, blending shades and inks. This was the result after 8 hours straight painting Then the final result i finished off the following morning
So finished my bastiladon base, I've named it "GONE FISHING" lol.. So started out by cutting out some styrofoam for the river banks Then painted the banks and the river bottom and a sandy edge Then sprayed a fine grass coat Then i tapped the edges up and poured in the resin Then i placed a little mud resin to hold the bastiladon and grass down Then thrown in my AWOL skink whos decided to do abit of fishing l, complete with rod and line lol
Oooh, nice! After the picture with the shade I wasn't sure, it looked a bit too thick and shiny, but in the last picture it looks great! Huh...wait. is that the same model? One pic looks so green and the other one doesn't.
