Why would you think that? Where does it say Slaanesh wasn't supposed to get ranged profiles?

It doesn't, not explicitly. But they're a squishy fast army with a lot of bonusses focussed on melee. Ranged would naturally be their weak point. It just feels out of place. Especially as they aren't just "better" in melee like say orruks, but also apply explicit debuffs to enemies like those -1 to hit and to wound for stuff near fiends, making ranged firepower even more of a key component to counter them than it would be against an say an orruk army.

It just feels rather out of place for what is for the most part a melee focussed army, especially with so much reliability & rend.

Also, it's kind of annoying to see a supporting hero who also has such amazing supportive ranged firepower when there's also stuff like skink starpriests who have no firepower to speak off to supplement their supportive abilities. Unless it's a very expensive model it looks like almost any slaaneshi list is liable to bring multiple of those. It seems like rather a good model.

That's not surprising, and it's not "fair" to compare them to our battletome.

Almost each time a new army arrives, GW sets the bar a little higher. the trend is there: in the past Flesh eater court and Beastclaw, more recently Idoneth, Legions of Nagash, Daughters of Khaine… it's frankly ridiculous but also undeniable.
No surprise you are going to see basic troops that will be cheaper and more effective than our elite. :meh:

It is fair to compare em with existing stuff, after all that's what they're supposed to fight, what isn't fair is the amount of powercreep GW keeps introducing.

To be honest what surprises me most is the amount of time between updates for a given faction (except SCE...). Our tome is one of the oldest at 3 years old, and since then at least 9 entirely new armies have been introduced. Just on errata alone we're kind of in need of a new tome, not to mention the inevitable powercreep that needs to be caught up with after 3 years of development. I've not been playing GW stuff for too long, but was it this bad for WFB/40K/LOTR as well? Kinda feels like they just need more rulewriters.

hence the inverted commas to the adjective "fair".
It would be a fair comparison in a logical game, but given the powercreep so loved by GW, you cannot hope to see balanced things when you compare new stuff with 3y older book.

The infamous powercreep. AoS or not, it is and has always been there (to varying degrees).

In some ways WFB was like that too and in some ways it was not. During the course of each edition, most (but not all) of the armies would receive a new army book. For instance, during 8th edition (which was the last edition of WFB before AoS), 12 of the 15 armies received a new book. Now keep in mind that the release schedule was quite a bit slower back then, so an army could have to wait well beyond 3 years to get a new book. What WFB did not have, at least not for a very long time, was a constant influx of new armies. There was a set number of armies and they would get updated over time. Certain armies like Chaos and Orcs & Goblins could reliably expect and receive a new army book with each and every edition. Some armies would skip an edition and have to play with their previous book (for instance Wood Elves, Tomb Kings, Dwarfs, etc. never received a 7th edition book). Poor Bretonnia on the other hand was still using their 6th edition book in 8th edition when WFB folded.

So even under WFB it was far from perfect. However, the focus was always on updating armies as opposed to introducing new ones (for better or worse). Also, while there were more popular WFB armies which GW gave extra attention to, nothing ever even came close to approximating the SCE spam that AoS suffers from.

In some ways AoS' situation is new and in other ways it is just par for the course.

Probably 80 days until yet more Imperium vs Chaos rubbish.

This is one of the many reasons why I hate 8th Edition 40K - more than any other Edition it shoves Imperium vs Chaos right into our faces.

Good, good - more evidence to say Night Goblins will be arriving in January. I’m hoping that GW will do a ‘12 days of Moonclan’ or ‘12 days of Destruction’ starting at Christmas, like they did a ‘12 days of Nurgle’ when Maggotkin were released in January the year before last. They’ve certainly put up an article about Gorkamorka on Warhammer Community that talks about how the various destruction factions worship him, including that the Night Goblins see him as Da Bad Moon.

    Two things:

    1. Imperium v chaos is the central theme to the entire lore.

    2. Directed at the new trsiler, my response =
