Hey lustria, as the title implies, I'm looking for bolt spitters bits. I have extra skinks. 20 of em, actually, and no extra spitters, but a billion javs. I mean, I mean, a 40 man jav blob would be funny, but I would rather have the spitters. Any for sale in The community? Or know of any bits sites that still have them?
I didn't even do that, I just cut them off and painted them. Skinks are a horde unit so most people don't even look at them close enough to notice.
Cool idea.. have any photos? I have 40 painted jav guys painted which I wish I had built as spitters. Currently I have 40 spitters + 40 java. I might consider snipping the javs.
I have a deep secret that one of the things the BT changes is make Javs better than Spitters. The Jav models are so much easier to paint, and I like the look and feel of better. But interested in the value that LizardWizard sees in them, as their opinion holds much value to me.
The Javs are better than boltspitters in every way except for range. In Shadowstrike Starhost Skinks move 2D6" after set up thanks to Stealthy Advance. Combined with 8" of movement on your turn and the 8" range on Javs and the range issue is moot. Javs will almost always out preform boltspitters in damage over the length of the game. In most cases Skinks will make use of Wary Fighting during combat. This means you will be disengaging while still within the Javs range. Essentially Boltspitters 16" range is most useful on Turn One and the turn they are summoned. Out of the Skinks I own 120 of them are built with Boltspitters and Bucklers. 40 are built with Javs and Bucklers.
One hundred... And twenty skinks... Madman. Well that strat does make sense. What do you buy with points? What do you use for summoning?
It depends on the list. Normally I only buy skinks when they are battalion tax or I need cheap battleline. Most of my Skinks are there for summoning. I use to run 4 EotGs and the full Slannado AB summoning apparatus. So, 120 Skinks wasn't actually enough then.
Ahh fair enough. I've only played one game and I ground my spitters out performed my javs. Could have just been how shit I rolled
