Possibly... although I don't recall reading that in my Tomb King army book.

I've been there. Some beautiful buildings. At least back then. But so many poor people. I felt filthy rich.

I wish I could deny this guy, but I cannot. I used to have a strong sense of focus, and now it's gone. Among other things, my attention span doesn't hold up if I try to paint models.

I am probably not targeted by the video, and I can understand that it is like that for many people, but for me it is mostly the other way round.
Half of the hobbies I always wanted to do would be utterly impossible for me without the Internet.

    A little list:
    - learn stuff about HEMA without YouTube
    - find the next great book to read (I would never have found out about the Expanse or all the historic books about military pilots that I like)
    - talk to loads of other people about the PC games I like (flight simulators. I cannot fly in real life because I lack the money and time).
    - learning how to repair my motorcycle myself (ok that would maybe work with some more effort and social interactions with people)
    - watch decent American Football in Germany and read all about my favourite teams (not popular)
    - learn shooting traditional bows without driving 50km to some club
    - paint Warhammer miniatures and talk about them, and not only with the, like, ten local guys in a crowded store of whom eight hate my army
    - enjoy Country Music, especially Bluegrass, and learn playing the songs myself (not popular here)
    - learn lockpicking
    - follow international space exploration, a topic I have always been interested in

If I couldn't just read/watch/communicate about all of that in the middle of the night when I finally have time (I have kids and a job) I would not do _any_ of those hobbies at all.
My lack of social skills would prevent half of them, and my lack of time in the right time slots would prevent the others.

Reading recent news from all around the world would also be pretty much impossible. I would be limited to the two (right wing) local newspapers and the TIME magazine that I am a subscriber to since 20 years or so.

I agree with his stance on social media. I am highly active on this forum and one other. Maybe too active sometimes. I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Discord or whatever else there might be with social media because I just don't like them. They create pressure for interaction that I don't like.
I check my private email every three days or so, sometimes I forget to do it for a week. (I wish I could do that with my company email as well... )

But he is generalizing too much I think.
There are loads and loads of people that get stuff done, and there have always been loads and loads of people with short attention spans who hang around and spent their time with "dumb" activities and idle chatter instead of getting things done.
And he also has rose tinted glasses on, about the "old Internet". There have always been assholes and trolls on there.

Edit: oh and one more thing: for me waiting has always been one of the worst things there are. I sometimes walked home (20 minutes) instead of sitting somewhere waiting for the bus for five minutes because I cannot stand it. I go crazy when I cannot do something. Since I have my smart phone I can finally stand it, because I can write a story, read and write forums/news, watch a video, hear music or play games, regardless of where I am. Boredom is finally gone. Internet rules. It helps filling all the empty spots.

Ignore him. He is just a bloviational speaker, with an opinion, on YouTube. He is part of the 90%. (Sturgeon’s Law)

Because it is great fun, and a challenge for dexterity.

...and also I can open some locks without keys (my own and those of people that agree. I never pick locks without permission).
I am not very good yet, but I am shocked how many abysmally bad locks are out there.
Now and then someone learns about the hobby and gives me a lock to pick, and many locks below ~20€ really take less than a minute to pick, even for me.
Guys like Bosnianbill would pick them in a few seconds.

Got myself a Oculus Rift S (VR gaming headset).
Pretty impressive, especially for simulation games.
