Actually, that mighta been potassium the memory fades... It sounded like a hand grenade. But it was fully submerged when it detonated. That perhaps enhanced the effect.

The caveat here is that this is per atom. A mole (6.02x10^23) of each substance's atoms will accurately depict this, but bear in mind that a mole of caesium weighs 22 times that of a mole of lithium for example.
That's true, the elements do become heavier as you move down the periodic table. Even still, Cesium is far more reactive, which is why special precautions must be taken in its storage.
