Funny you should ask that Mr Dan. But if you must know, no I have not. I have instead been enjoying drinking beer and looking at the models on the GW site. I don't have the motivation at my age, that a young man does to do that stuff anymore. If i live 1, 3rd of my life again, I would be dead. With age comes experience though. If i thought everyone was a cool dude, and would support, I would do it and probably give it away. But I get the impression there are to many ppl out to make it for themselves. I only want to help wholesome dudes.
Alright then guy's... Please excuse my posts from yesterday. I drank 6 cans of beer + 2 rums. Not sure what a good formula for a ratio of rum to beer is. But the good news is, I actually feel great! well by great I mean I don't have horrendous hangover. I feel like I am working at 40% out of a maximum capacity of 47%. But this is the thing, I don't know what it is I am suppose to be making anymore. My original idea was to build something that worked out the points of the game. But its pointless, because I wouldn't be following GW's system, I would be doing it in a game design way, basically making my own version of the game. What people seem to want, is something that uses the existing AoS system and calculates the damage each unit can do. Not really sure about the value in that though. If someone can come up with a good idea, and its simple enough for me to make I will do that. But please, think of it like this, when your asking for someone to sit in front of the screen and fiddle with code for many hours, it has to feel like it's going towards something worthwhile.
Well, I have an open source codebase and plenty of issues that could use some attention here: https://github.com/daviseford/aos-reminders/issues That would be a great way to scratch your programming itch and help the AoS community! I welcome any and all contributions
Dan brilliant idea, well done, and you have done a lot of hard work here. My Javascript i do is only in Vue.js, and I am not 100% up on type script or all the latest stuff with webpack. I am (cringe) mainly a php developer. All you need to do, to make your app truly brilliant, is add some graphics of AoS, I know that's hard with copy right etc. And also maybe try a medieval looking font. I only say this, because that is a tiny bit of effort required compared to the mountain of work you have already done, and I think that would have a really big impact.
you mean what I told you a week ago before you insulted every one on the forum and bragged about how we could "Bank on it" (your program)
I've decided.... you are more Trump than used car salesman.... With Trump we didn't get anything but talk, at least with the used car salesman we walked away with a car (even if it was a shitty one)
Yes I didn't know at that time, that GW basically does all their points costs by estimation. Maybe that is the right way to do it. I only can think about things in a binary way. The way they are doing it, is definitely more creative and artistic. I do things like, this is ernie, ernie walks one squre, he has 2 gold coins.
Let's stop the bullshit - nothing that you have come out with in this entire thread has suggested that you are a developer of any kind, at least not professionally.
There still was my request to see some of your work near the beginning of the thread, that was left unanswered and seemingly ignored. So my belief is near 0 that you are able to do any of this.
For anyone who wants to 'bow out' of the insane discussions started by certain individuals, I can only urge you to explore the 'ignore' button. I'm at that point.
The thing is, don't you think its more interesting if we keep it a mystery, weather I am, or am not? To be honest with you, I am ok with you and Dan handling this. Seems to me like you both have it under control here, my help is not needed. I feel like I am more a programming field marshal now. I don't actually plan the wars, or fight in them. Its my role to just go around and offer a couple of words of advice here and there, and make sure everything is going ok. Which it seems to be going well here.
Well that certainly was not my intention. Honestly, I thought it was something I would be able to do. I really believed in the idea. I got carried away with it. And then you know, reality starts to set in. It probably would not be that good, or no one would be interested in it. Then I thought about all the boring, hard work involved. I didn't understand that the charm of Age of Sigmar is that it's not all done to a set of rigid rules, it uses a lot of imagination and stuff. If I came a long and applied my rigid square rules to everything, yes it might be as balanced as a game of chess, but in the process I would ruin everything and make it homogenised like everything else is nowadays. Same way the internet use to have zillions of different websites, now the whole world decides to just use 4. Who am I to make suggestions anyway? I didn't make that game, that's there game. The only thing I thought was a good idea, was the match up specific buffs and de-buffs. It could well be a crap idea though. I mean there are people playing the game a lot longer then me, they probably thought of that already. But I would say that is my best suggestion, because its a small thing, that would be easy to try out.
