Question about that. The rules say make a battleshock test after a turn in which a unit loses a model. Does this mean single entities don't make battleshock rolls outside of specific spells and abilities that target them? Also, on the Stegadon card, it says friendly Skink units wholly within 18" can reroll battleshock tests. This would apply to my Salamander unit, and to each other, correct?

Yes. Battleshock test are only taken for units who have suffered losses in that battleround.
Yes, Salamanders, Terradons, ect get to reroll their battleshock test when wholly within 18" of a steggadon.

please remember that if you choose to re roll a battleshock, you have to take the new result even if its worse.

    my general thought process is:
am I losing models if no, don't re roll, if yes then
did I roll a 5 or a 6, if no don't re roll, if yes then
is the unit basically dead unless I roll a 1, if yes eff it you got nothing to lose lol throw that bad boy

All good things to keep in mind during decision making.

The question I ask myself most often is: "Will doing "x" increase of decrease the likelihood of me outscoring my opponent."
