Blog Gettin' the Host back together- 3D Prints!

Hello, it’s Croco.

Painting progress on the blood bowl lizardmen has been slow in spite of recent free time. Not going to put too much more time in these guys, but another highlight pass or extra details is possible, recommendations are welcome.

I want their bases to match the official board I got for them. Thus far kinda green-tan in color. Likely going to add some grass and foliage in between cracks, but other advice would be great.

parts unpainted will be colors in team colors. Likely will also have some painted gold.

More work on blood bowl Saurus, added some vegetation and a loose rock or two. Will post that once the Saurus are glued down. Currently of note, I purchased a resin 3D printer, the Elegoo Mars specifically. First test print has gone well with the provided rook coming out clean without any immediately visible imperfections. I am planning to print out the lost kingdom lizardmen models, some of the files shared via the lizardmen models to print page, and a selection of other interests of mine. If all goes well I might look into 3D modeling myself, or porting video game models to printable files. I've done nearly no research but some figures of low poly early 3D games is of great interest as a possibility.

Lots of fun thus far, with a smattering of small to moderate print failures. Typically supports not being good enough. The image of the skink uses a lithophane making program that will convert black and shite images into stl files you can slice then print on your printer. Very happy with how he turned out. Might be my favorite skink art out there. Lizardman eating a heart from Lost Kingdom miniatures Patreon. Ornstein from dark souls and file found on thingiverse. Orns was a bit of pain with thin layers of resin and some hollow traits to him. Definitely not made with miniatures in mind originally.

Looking forward to seeing more of these lost kingdom miniatures painted!

Game models from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Being so scaly actually works in these Lost Kingdoms miniature’s favor because the pockmarks from cutting supports off don’t show up that bad. On my simple polygonal models there is a lot of sanding to be done. I have a bunch of stuff primed now so painting won’t be too long coming. I want to finish a second blitz bowl team before I go visit my brother so we can play however.

The top three were gifts but Hornet and the Knight from Hollow Knight I’m keeping.

Nice! I like the hollow knight stuff, love the artwork in that game.

Nice Frankenstein!

I am curious how the Lost Kingdom carnosaur ranks up size-wise next to the GW version?

Definitely beefier than the carnosaur, but not too different in size. That is not the correct size base for him by the way just what I had on hand to get them to the same vertical starting point. I printed him at the default size file I received from the cuetzpal empire Kickstarter, so they might have changed something for the online store version but I doubt it.

I’ve printed and painted the Edelweiss from Valkyria Chronicles! Credit to Tiger Ace on Thingiverse who also has several different load-outs for the Edelweiss. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2765286

And shoutout to Workbench Hobbies for a painting guide for the official tank model kit that is constantly sold out. They have the blues I used listed there and I used plenty of their images to compare before diverging from their style a bit. They also sell a mask set and better instructions perhaps but it wouldn’t do me any good because this 3d printed version is a different size.

Monster Hunter’s Glavenus inspired this big guy. WIP, my base I had planned for him no longer fit so I’m making a new one. This is from Lost Kingdom miniatures by the way. I have both riders printed out but haven’t begun painting them yet.
