    Hello everyone :)

My name is Matthias, I'm 33 years old, I'm from Italy, and I've just recently picked up this painting hobby again.

The first time I painted a model was way back in the early 00s, when me and my best friend decided to get into Warhammer Fantasy. I decided to start a Vampire Counts army, while he opted to get some Lizardmen. I started by buying a couple boxes of zombies and skeletons, he instead spent almost all his first paycheck on a full scaly army: he bought a huge deal of minis, from Saurus Warriors and Skinks to Temple Guards and Cold One Riders, and even a Stegadon and a Slann Mage Priest.

We went back to his home with our new models, but after jus one hour of assembling those new toys he realized that he wasn't really cut for that kind of hobby. Nonetheless he finished putting together the army, sprayed some of those minis with primer, and painted one or two of them, then put them in a Figure Case (he bought that too), and left them in the back of our friendly local games store for more than a decade. On the other hand I was still pretty hooked up with the modeling, but had to stop after painting the few models I got because of some issues I had back in those days.

When that FLGS went out of business the guy who was running it gave me all those minis, since my friend wasn't interested in them anymore and he needed to get rid of them one way or another. So I took that case and all the boxes with the leftover pieces and sprues back to my home, where they were forgotten once again inside a messy wardrobe for almost another ten years.

Earlier this year I was cleaning up that messy wardrobe, and obviously got my hands on those Lizardmen once again (my Vampire Counts models have been lost to the ages, sadly), and thought that now that I can afford buying paints and other supplies I could as well get back into modeling, and for good this time. So I went down the road to the (new) FLGS, bought a huge deal of colors and brushes and other useful stuff, and now I'm once again caught into this beautiful hobby.

I came by this forum in search of inspiration on how to paint my big inherited collection of Lizardmen (and Seraphons, I bought some of them too), and I hope to find new people to share my passion with.

That said I hope to get along with you all, and I wish you to have a nice day :D

PS: I link one of my latest work, just to give you an idea of my painting level; hope it's alright :) 20201116_085219.jpg

    Welcome along!

It's is sad that it didn't work out with your buddy in the first place, but eventually nice to come by an entire army for free...
I think the majority of your army is still on or with square bases?

Good luck building your force and enjoy it.
    Good start with the Warrior.

    Grrr, Imrahil

Yeah, all of them have square/rectangular bases, but I'm looking to convert them to AoS, so will probably buy some round bases and put them onto those.

    Welcome to Jurassic Park!

Check out the painting threads to get lots of inspiration, tips and adoration ;) from the users of Lustria Online!

I hope you also find your way into the playing of the hobby!

Above all, ask any questions you want. Don't be shy, we've all asked our silly questions before. The main thing that I love about this site (and the reason I continue to support it) is that it is a nice group of helpful people. Go on any thread and ask and you'll find several people speaking up with help or directions.

    Enjoy and welcome back!

I appreciate the lure of the Dark Side (AoS), just please keep a hope in your heart for Warhammer: The Old World which we're hoping is a decent comeback to actual Warhammer Fantasy.

    lovely looking Saurus.

Meh I always figured that since Age of Sigmar allows for round or square bases and Oldhammer and Kings of War requires rectangular bases that rectangles are best.

The majority of my gaming opportunities (assuming the virus wasn't an issue) are AoS but not ALL of them.

But whatever floats your boat. I have to admit (reluctantly) that round bases make slightly better looking display models.
