Hey, I just found this forum a few days ago, and have just recently gotten into AoS. Haven't actually gotten to play yet, but I'm working on collecting a Seraphon army, since painting Beastmen that I bought at the start of the summer was driving me insane. Planning a carnosaur heavy budget army, since I'm also working on a 40k army and need to save cash somewhere. Since this isn't really the place for it I won't put that list hear unless there's interest, though I have the planned lizards army posted here. Thanks to those who've given advice!

    Welcome to Jurassic Park!

And may I be the first to congratulate you on your superb choice of army! ;)

Well, I know you're already being helped on army lists so just make sure you take a look in the fluff and stories, painting and Miscellaneous sections of the forum. Lots of friendly people in each!

    Enjoy!

Thanks! I do have a question, maybe you or someone else can answer. In a Koatl's Claw list consisting of 2 start collecting boxes, a spare carnosaur, and a box of warriors with Kroak, would a pair of skink starpriests be a better point investment than one and the firelance battalion? I'm not sure if it's a better use of points than that extra artifact

Welcome to Lustria, hope you'll enjoy your stay!
for any question or doubt you may have, feel free to ask.

If you want, we have a very specific thread to discuss 40k. here you are.

Personally i'd go for for the firelance + 1 starpriest, but it depends on the list and on your local meta. ;)

Well see the thing is I'm also using a sturclaw templehost and was thinking maybe more buffs were better than +3 charge range, don't know the local meta but I'm moving somewhere so even if I did it wouldn't help

Well, if you're already fielding one battalion, then don't pick also the firelance.
You cannot afford to spend 300 pts only for those, it's 15% of the army!

Greetings and welcome! I would take advantage of the obvious Star Wars Prequel joke in your thread title but @NIGHTBRINGER and @Scalenex have beaten me to it :sour: ;)

What was it about them that was driving you mad? I would have thought painting them would be pretty easy given they’re mostly fur and wood (I’ve just started collecting them as my sixth army, and to me they look pretty easy compared to Dwarfs and High Elves, especially the latter as they have loads of different bits of clothing and patterning that need their own separate colour ;)). I’d still advise you to keep going with them though, they’re a cool army to fight your Lizardmen :)

If you’re ever getting fed up with painting a specific army, I always recommend pausing with them and switching to another one for a while, because the other army will require different colour schemes and textures and will be a break, before coming back to them. Your new Lizardmen will give you that opportunity, and then once you’ve painted loads of scales you’ll feel better about returning to your Beastmen. I do this all the time with my armies - I paint a unit from one army then a unit from another and so on, so I’m never painting one specific faction all the time.

Hope this helps, and hope you enjoy your time here! :)

I was going insane trying to get into all the bits of fur on models like the Cygor, and trying to mix up different shades of brown to make ungors not be identical to gors, etc.

That’s fair. When I was painting Lothern Sea Guard for my High Elves I was getting pretty mad trying to paint all the details that required each colour, only to miss one out on one model, then another, then moving onto the next colour and missing some with that colour, e.t.c, so I feel your pain.

Concerning the Ungors and Gors, shouldn’t you have just chosen different flesh colours from GW for each before you started?

Local store didn't have more than 2 browns. Zandri Dust and XV-88 only give you so much variety

Hi and welcome to the pool.
About the 2 brown references, try to shade them with different colour shade (red, purple, brown, even blue). That will make some new flesh/fur tones.

As I felt a bit lazy to paint my Death army, I have picked Seraphon to change the routine... and Cities of Sigmar (how mad I am!?) I think it will make me happy to go from a theme to the other and enjoy the paint time.
