This is eerily similar to some stuff the CCP does. I don't agree with everything JP says or believes, but on the stuff he disagrees with, I'd rather it would be in the public discourse than be censored.

I don't know who coined the phrase, but a tyrant that cuts out a man's tongue only does so because he fears what that man might say.

I'll admit I was pleased when Alex Jones got deplatformed by nearly everywhere at once, but I was floored when Stefan Molyneux was de-platformed for supposed hate speech. Stefan Molyneux is a huge advocate of the Non-Aggression Principle and is so into nonviolence he is morally outraged by spanking of children to say nothing of how he wants the countries of the world to disarm their militaries. If anything, Steffan is a proverbial hippy that happens to think socialism is a bad idea.

At some point I should read his book to figure out the full context of his beliefs. At some point I think his views on the Non-Aggression Principle is a bit polyanna. Passive resistance worked for Gandhi because Great Britain for all it's imperialist ambitions was concerned with their morality or at the very least their appearance of morality. Enemies like the CCP seem to have no moral center to appeal to.

If the price of freedom is that Alex Jones gets to ramble about frogs in public forums, I guess that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Any of you guys reading this in Canadia?

Write your politicians that they suck!

Don't use e-mail, write them a physical letter, that's harder to ignore.

A lot of independent media has mentioned the troops in Canada a lot, but not many have connected the dots. The PLA wants to winterize their soldiers so they can fight India better.

Chris Chapel is blaming pandas once again. Pandas are innocent victims! Cuddly cute innocent victims.

China Uncensored did a good job covering 2020's CCP evil in a 17 minute video.

    No, not that Stefan Molyneux.

That wikipedia article is a pack of lies or at the very least represents extreme opinions not facts. He is not a white supremacist. I've listened to a hundred of his podcasts and he never brought up white supremacy talking points.

Wikipedia is a good resource for science but a bad resource for politics.

Rather than attack his ideas, his detractors have taken the lazy route and called him a racist. He has thousands of hours of material and his detractors cherry pick tiny clips out of context to prove he is a bigot.

He likes small government (to an absurd extreme in my opinion) and small government advocates uusaly lean to the Right. But being Right leaning and being bigoted not one and the same.

Even if he was a bigot, I would rather bigots be talking out in the open on a public platform rather than hiding in the shadows or lurking on a private invite only forum that is an echo chamber for bad ideas. That way we know who they are.

I listen to Clownfishtv as background noise a lot. They do not normally handle political issues. They talk about Disney cartoons and movies, comic books, and other nerdy media.

The married couple that runs this Youtube channel identify as Center Left but they have been labeled as Alt-Right multiple times.

This sort of happened to Steffan. Steffan is a libertarian (a pretty extreme libertarian). He has spoken against white supremists. He is certainly not a fan of eugenics.

I don't agree with extreme libertarians in that they want a state-less society because I think a state-less is ridiculously infeasible, but I don't want to censor and silence people who are extreme libertarians.

Steffan is also a pacifist so at least I can be assured he's not going to lead an anarco-capitalism revolution.

This is one of the first CCP related videos I've seen in a long time that left me feeling somewhat hopeful. I hope 2021 presages multinational multi-party solidarity against the CCP.

The CCP keeps inching closer to invading Taiwan. If the PLA doesn't invade Taiwan in the next ten years, I will be mildly surprised. If the PLA goes to war with someone else before Taiwan I will be very surprised.

There is a chance that Winnie the Pooh is just saber rattling to look strong and avoid being ousted by a coup.

This is a very good video detailing China's geopolitical history and its ramifications today. It also heavily scrutinizes the notion Trump was hard on China.

    It is a good video.

I especially like the little illustrations.

Comrades, what do you like better: Tibet? or Jobs?

I'm not sure I agree with his conclusion that we are going to face a new Cold War in 20 years. I think we are in one now.

I certainly agree that while the media is focusing on Trumps clownish antics, the media is ignoring the CCP's crimes against humanity.

That's why I think the impeachment attempt is a bad idea as is the attempt to scrub him from social media which is generating a backlash. That means, even though he is no longer president, the media is going to be focusing on Trump for the next six months at least instead of focusing on Biden on what Biden is doing or not doing.

While this video was very informative, it had no ideas on how to make things better. That is disheartening.

I still think the best way to bring the CCP down is to starve them economically but that would require a large portion of the global community to act in unison against them and that doesn't seem in the cards.

I guess since I'm not consulted in international trade deals that the best I can do is remind people constantly that the CCP locks up religious minorities and then systematically kills them to sell their organs while practicing cultural or literal genocide on ethnic minorities.

So yeah that. Genocide is bad in all it's forms. The CCP does lots of it, and those who willingly get in bed with the CCP for business deals are amoral or foolish.

This video starts a little dark. The CCP is applying pressure to an unassuming Chinese American that has a cooking show, and it covers how CCP propagandists spread lies about the bigotry of Falun Gang practioners, but it gets lighter. It shows Chinese culture has much to offer if the CCP's boot can be removed from it's neck.

Those are countryballs. Basically memes combined with history and geopolitics. There's an entire subreddit of it all.

I mean, he did incite a mob to attack the U.S. capitol, forcing congress members and senators to flee from an attack intended to overturn the election and/or kill lawmakers. I don't think that has ever happened in the past. Not to mention Trump was threatening election officials into overturning the election there in that state. He's done all of this and so much more i've yet to list, and you think the media is focusing on him too much? Trump, in my view, was probably 1,000x more dangerous to our democracy than whatever the CCP could've done during his tenure, except nuclear attacks or something else ridiculous. I think it'll set a bad precedent if the immense amount of fascistic behavior he has committed goes unpunished.

I do not believe Trump incited the riot. Did he fail to prevent it. Yes. Incite it, no. I certainly don't think law makers' lives were in jeopardy. The people who entered the capital were unarmed.

Even if Trump did incite the riot, my prescription is the same.

Every monster has a separate weakness.

He won the Republican primary by manipulating the media for free coverage. Trump feeds on attention. Deny him attention and he loses his power, especially now that he is out of office and his own party's establishment cut ties with him.

Ignore him and he'll go away. He's not a threat any more. If you want to see him punished for his crimes, that's one thing, but he's probably going to be dead or be a mentally dead vegetable in less than 20 years.

For all his many many character flaws, he is a symptom of our country's problems, not the cause of it. Beating up his effigy is not going to solve any problems. In any event, I'm optimistic. It looks like Biden is not going to rollover for the CCP and his advisors seem to take the CCP seriously. That's all I really care about this thread.

I really like Mike Pompeo, I cannot say the same for any of Trump's other appointees. I hope Pompeo manages to salvage his career somehow. The rest of Trump's appointees, I hope they never get near the halls of power again, especially John Bolton and Steve Minuchan (I don't care if I misspelled his name).

After Watergate, Richard Nixon was clearly guilty, but Gerald Ford opted not to see him prosecuted realizing that punishing him would not help the country move forward. Same thing applies now only Nixon was caught red handed whereas Trump is probably guilty. Note, legal precedent for inciting violence with speech establishing that inciting speech is very hard to prove legally.

I still believe that the CCP is the greatest threat to the United States and democracies around the world.

We can start another thread if we want to talk about terrible US presidents we can start a separate thread.

Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, George W. Bush. I am measuring legacies. Before you speculate what Trump's legacy will be, note that Trump is Bush's legacy because he never would have been elected if Bush did not unintentionally pave the way for Trump. In a way Wilson's legacy allowed for Bush's legacy because Wilson pretty much invented the concept of foolhardy moralistic interventionalist wars in developing countries.

The temperatures in the disputed border region in the Himalayas are -31 degrees.

    Celsius of Fahrenheit?

    First one, then the other.

I checked a converter and -31 F is -35 C. That is practically the same.

I have encountered wind chill in that in that temperature zone, not actual temperatures. For about two minutes.

I've done heavy winter camping. Mucklucks, I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right but essentially before you put on your heavy winter boots you wrap your feet like a mummy (above the sock). Longjohn underwear, pants, snow pants. Long underwear shirt, shirt, coat. Two layered gloves. Scarf. Fuzzy hat lined with real or fake fur.

With all that, and a 4000 calorie per day diet, I can and have survived comfortably in -10 F, -23 C. Pooping was highly unpleasant but other than that it wasn't that bad.

That was two days. All we did was a little bit of cross country skiing (during the warmest parts of the day) and a lot of eating and laughing around a campfire.

I cannot picture camping out for months and being combat ready...

I did not expect even a minor clash in January. I am rooting for India and Tibet of course.

The Biden administration seems to be off to a good start with it's CCP related policies. I am cautiously optimistic about the future.

When it comes to the office of the presidency, in my opinion foreign policy is more important than all other aspects of governance. And within foreign policy, as of now, the CCP is the most important international actor in US foreign policy.

Not a lot of people agree with me. Modern presidents are usually judged by how well the economy is doing despite the president not having a whole lot of influence on the economy. Not the president has no influence there, far from it, but that's a discussion for another day and another thread.

It is far easier to draw a straight line from a president to foreign policy than anything else.
