Hello boys and girls and welcome to Let's Get Motivated - February 2021 This thread is too get us motivated each month into finishing projects that we have on the go, the rules are fairly simple. At the start of the month post what you intend to try and finish this month, it can be models/terrain/conversions of any game type. No pressure if you don't finish anything this is for motivation nothing else. Around the middle of the month post your progress, no images please, if you have want to share your progress with images, upload them into your blog and supply a link. Around the end of the month post your progress, again no images, if you have finished a piece upload the images into your blog and supply a link. The reason I don't want images in this thread is too get everyone that takes part views in their personal blog where the community can critique, etc. You don't have a paint blog? well get one started in this forum section. If you need advice etc. post here and the community will try and answer. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress Grrr, Imrahil
This month, I'll be building stuff I've accumulated over the past two months. I've got a box of skinks, two blister packs of chameleons, a standard bearer, and lord kroak himself. I've also got the necrons side of the indomitus set. I already started with the skinks, they've been snipped off of the sprues but need a good clean of the mould lines. I don't think there's anything more frustrating than fixing the mould lines on their hands! I file them down and then dig into the gaps with my hobby knife. Already gave myself a nice gash on one of my fingers. I'm about halfway through cleaning the bits, should have them glued together by the end of the week. The rest are all "finecast", which seem to be resin based models. They'll need a wash before snipping them off of the sprues. Also a lot of gap filling, it seems the resin bubbles which creates enough holes for a trypophobic to have a panic attack. I have some vallejo plastic putty in a tube for the small ones, and I sourced some green stuff to fix the bigger ones. Kroak and the bearer will stay in a state of subassembly for easier painting though. The necrons are a side project and aren't the focus, so it won't bother me if I don't get started with them. If I get through the lizard lot I might treat myself to an oracle on a trog.
I have a march madness of models coming so i wanna bang through what i've got. Finishing painting my troglosaur Finishing painting my Saurus Guard Build and paint my riders for my Knights Rumble around couches for space for these march models
As I did not finish all the goals of last month they will transfer to this month: - finish painting the remaining Ironjawz Ardboy - finish painting the Ironjawz Warchanter - trying to kitbash 40K orks to Ironjawz Ardboys and - finish building my thatched roof building Grrr, Imrahil
This month, my only painting goal is to paint as much as possible of my 10 cold one riders. They’re the only unprimed miniatures I have left. Hopefully with some warmer weather I’ll get some priming and varnishing done. On the building front, I’d like to pin or magnetize my Oldblood to its carnosaur. I also have 28 saurus warriors, 20 skinks and 6 Blood Bowl orc team members to build. Not expecting to get through all of it, just as much as possible.
My goals for this month are little amorphous due to the uncertainty around priming friendly weather conditions haha. I want to paint up my first Salamander hunting pack and would like to get at least 1 or 2 units painted for Star Wars Legion.
I'll try to finish commissions: Space Wolves and Scythe game. Then I'll stop paint during a few weeks cause I'll move =D
The rather simple goal of this month is to finish the Saurus Scar Veteran on Cold One. I will try my hand at the painting scheme of the "milka cow" suggested in the battle tome:
First goal of the minth is done: √ finish painting the remaining Ironjawz Ardboy - finish painting the Ironjawz Warchanter - trying to kitbash 40K orks to Ironjawz Ardboys and - finish building my thatched roof building Grrr, Imrahil
Working on Kroak! After he is done I plan to finally paint my Realmshaper Engine and at least 10x Saurus Guard.
Seems like it's time for an update. Cleaned and assembled 24 skinks, 10 chameleons, and my standard bearer. Decided to leave Kroak unassembled. Started with the indomitus necrons, finished 20 warriors, 6 scarab swarms, and the overlord. Only 10 more spindly living-dead machines to go! That carnosaur kit reward is looking more and more achievable.
Second goal is nearly done: √ finish painting the remaining Ironjawz Ardboy - finish painting the Ironjawz Warchanter - trying to kitbash 40K orks to Ironjawz Ardboys and - finish building my thatched roof building Grrr, Imrahil
And now the second goal is completed: √ finish painting the remaining Ironjawz Ardboy √ finish painting the Ironjawz Warchanter - trying to kitbash 40K orks to Ironjawz Ardboys and - finish building my thatched roof building There is a little progress on the third goal, but I somewhat lack 32mm bases. Grrr, Imrahil
Well I achieved my main goals. I painted 1 Salamander Hunting Pack and 1 unit of B2 Super Battle Droids. I've nearly finished a second unit of them too. Man am I sick of edge highlighting silver lol. A big bonus this week was some better weather which has allowed me to spray prime another 10 SW Legion units plus 4 character models. So I have plenty to be getting on with in March.
Got something done this month which i happy with, but need to do more next month Finishing painting my troglosaur Finishing priming my Saurus Guards Build and paint my riders for my Knights
Finished all this including the indomitus necrons. Even got my chameleons primed, painted a test model, and started base coating the other 9. Now do I cop a carnosaur kit or do I wait for the underworlds warband...
Not a great month for painting, as I only got 3-4 steps done on my cold one riders. I have legitimate excuses (there are only 28 days in February, for one!), but still kind of disappointing. On the other hand, I did a fair amount of work on the unbuilt saurus warriors. I cleaned the mould lines on all 28 (as somewhat of a perfectionist, that was a lot of work), I’ve built 8 of them and I’m partway through building the other 20. Maybe I need to start making more specific goals in order to make better progress.
that certainly works, I usually take 3 or 4 small goals. That way you are done quicker and you could switch between 'projects' to keep your sanity Grrr, Imrahil
The end of the month update: √ finish painting the remaining Ironjawz Ardboy √ finish painting the Ironjawz Warchanter - trying to kitbash 40K orks to Ironjawz Ardboys and - finish building my thatched roof building The last two goals I didn't finish. Mainly because I got sidetracked doing roadworks (terrain pieces) Grrr, Imrahil
My project for the month is also finished, the picture is here: https://www.lustria-online.com/threads/saurus-scar-veteran.12680/page-3#post-362137.
