Blog Cults and Cohorts

Work's been a little slower this week, however I think things are about to gear up with these rock's and tree which will work as a really good anchor for progression.

Here's some shots before applying some washes with my own moss texture

And after

Now the effect im really going for with this tree is going to be one fitting the same theme as my other separate tree diorama. (Still not finished, This tree's honestly been an invaluable reference for me throughout this process and is probably one of the only models im somewhat happy with in some aspects despite my perfectionism - Most likely the reason I use it to base future projects off so much.)

This means I will be painting the mushrooms a sort of orange colour to really make them pop and drive home the tropical environment. I will also be following up the initial layers of moss with the clump foliage seen on the other tree along with a variety of plants growing up its trunk - followed up by rocks and mushrooms around the base to really integrate it with the environment.

Here's the tree on its position on the diorama, Im planning on almost 'zoning' out a small radius around the tree and really focusing on that bit with details and all for a while, that way I can have a good base to branch out from for the rest of the diorama, as well building the theme's and composition im going for here. Obviously I will integrate it using mud ect; as seen in the other tree diorama - I may even have some roots hanging down from the overhang into the cove below.

Ignoring the top layer (Which was more just setting a base to work with before adding additional layers and cleaning it all up) I think the texture effects have done a good job at merging all the cork levels into one rock face with natural looking texture that will look great in proper colors.

Honestly pretty excited for the next stages in the process where I can start actually sticking things down and crafting it. Once the Diorama's finished I think it would be really satisfying to go back and write a post showing how its progressed step by step, not only that but I can also document my process in some form or another to help me with any future diorama's.

Love how that base is coming together!

Nice! Enlightened don't get the respect they deserve since they don't fit into a The Change Host build.

Even if there are better options in the competitive meta they still are really nice models in terms of details and when on the battle field. Their rules aren't anything to laugh at either considering the raw damage output they can do with a shaman. They seem pretty fun to play with due to the way in which you can play mindgames with their rerolling ability if the enemy they are fighting has already attacked, not to mention the insane movement. Glad you like them

I've decided to break up the monotony of having the brimstone horrors in well aligned pairs, which to be perfectly honest doesn't really reflect their chaotic nature. So have instead opted to mix and match them, having some stacked to make height variation whilst others will be at different perspectives and levels. Im also experimenting with a blue horror that is basically spilling out into brims to go along with them.

Loving your work on this thread Naz, Ohmen would be proud.

(Is Ohmen secretly a follower of Tzeentch? I mean, he is a changeling after all... :) )

Thanks, and yeah the changeling character has to be one of my most favorite people.. or well 'entities' lore-wise in the entirety of warhammer, a lot of inspiration has certainly come from Tzeentch when thinking about Ohmen's descriptions and how he acts.

I like all your Tzeentch work. I love how the amount of limbs doesn't matter ;)
I am looking forward to them all painted

Keep up the good work

I've finished 10 blue's and some pinks along with the gaunt summoner. I think I will focus on getting all of them (and 10 more brims) based, primed and ready to paint at a minimum before moving onto anything else. Also Blue horrors have to be one of my favorite all time kits, they're just really clean to build and their poses are all individual/dynamic

These look like a lot of fun, painting might not be though, with all those arms in the way :artist:
I love the additions to the Guant summoner, great scholar vibes.

Did you get the SCB Tzeentch? If so are all the horrors in there or just the pink?
It looks to me like you need to buy the blue and brims separately, although you need them to be able to field the Pink ones.

Thanks, and yeah I picked up the SCB for like 20% off which makes it a super good deal considering what it comes with (1 Burning chariot, 1 Herald, 10 Pinks, 3 Flamers, 3 Screamers) But unfortunately it doesn't come with the blue's so yeah you're right that you have to get them separately. Luckily though Ebay is filled with Tzeentch stuff, so I always just wait until I can pick something up cheap off there, and if not buy it from a third party website for 15-20% off. It really keeps all the costs down, then again, to run 10 pinks you would technically need two packs of blue's since they split into 20 and that cost would start steepening real quick if you were to field an army of pinks, but people dont seem to have any issues with me just using bases to represent blue's anyway.

That is a nice catch. I have a webstore where most of the SCB are 15% off that helps the hobby a lot :)

If I see it correct you do get both Brims and Blue in one pack though. The blue look a lot more "normal" then the pink, to be honest.
funny how the Pink split into 2 blues both on a separate base and blues then spilt into 2 Brims who share a base.

Luckely

Good fun painting

That is a very nice looking base. Are these runes of something particularly?
