Right so i'm attacking orcs and goblins again in the campaign we are playing. After 4 battles or so with a slann it is time to pull the old blood card again. Lord Saurus old blood Enchanted shield, talisman of preservation, sword of anti heroes Heroes Scar vet BSB shield Armor of destiny Skink priest lvl 2 (heavens) Dispell scroll Core 47 saurus warriors (scar and old blood go in here) full command 30 saurus warriors full command 2 x 10 skink skirmishers Special 3 kroxies 2 x 5 cham skinks Rare 2 sallies (extra handlers) Last time i played o&g he brought 5 chars, 2 casters, 3 close combat orcs. So i know normally the sword of anti heroes would only generate one extra attack and strength bonus, i do hope i'm lucky and he brings alot of chars again. Scar vet, well you always need a bsb i reckon no matter what in 8th edition since you can almost re roll everything (if not everything not sure ). Kinda went cheesy with my big blocks of saurus, the 47 unit is going up in ranks 7x7 and the 30 unit is going up in ranks 6x5. Cham skinks to annoy which they always do good, kroxies for extra power (flanking) and sallies did such an amazing job last time, i just had to take them again (would love 3 though, but lets try 2). Last game was so close against o&g and if my slann didn't miscast, killing 10 TGs i'm sure i would have won.
Does he stick a whole bunch of characters in the same unit? As the sword only works if you are in base contact with other heroes...
Nice! Always love saurus spam. Oldblood lists can really pack a punch. He's right. I might go with a different magical item for the oldblood.
Saurus blocks you will need to go up against the massed Orcs, but don't forget to take a bunch of skirmishers for possible giants, arachnarok spiders or even just spider riders (lightly armoured troops do REALLY badly against the skinks). For Orcs & Goblins, I would say take a weapon that gives you +2 or +3 attacks. Your Oldblood is already strength 5 which is very respectable. If you have 8 attacks with an average of 1-2 more with Predatory Fighter you can really do some serious damage to the infantry (keep him out of challenges!!! O&Gs only do this to prevent your Heroes/Lords from mahlecting up their units) 9 or 10 Attacks per turn? Yes please!
Btw i always post my armies and edit them a bit with your lot feedback. But if it is not to much to ask, post your entire 2k army vs o&g. I'm curious to see what you lot field and the setup of your chars. If possible do it with An old blood, don't fancy bringing another slann this time. PS my opponent always brings alot of warmachines. Minimum 3 spear chukkas and 2 Doom divers. Sometimes one more spearchukka and 1-2 rock lobbers. The last battle he didn't bring night goblins with fanatics, previous battles he always did. He did say, never change a winning team. But i reckon it was to close last time, so he might change it up. He does have the large spider model and i know he is dying to try it out.
A little late to the party but the sword of anti heroes is enemy characters in base contact with him AND his unit. Great magic item against character buses
I am also late to the party but I would like to add that the sword of antihero is points efficient agaisnt even just one character. I'm a big fan of that item. About to read the battle report.
