Hey all! Starting up a paint log to post WIP and finished models to help keep me motivated on my painting journey. All of the color schemes of my dinos are inspired by pokemon because I thought that would be a fun way to tie two of my hobbies together. I'll start by posting everything I have done so far up to my current WIP starpriest. A Haunter or two may find their way in here on occasion as well...

Amazing work overall.
The Terradons look magnificent. I like the stars on the wings, like the night sky.

This Starpriest looks sooo good. great colorscheme and amazing detail.

Keep up the good work.

I tried to find the corresponding Pokémon, but my lack of knowledge beyond first gen became clear :oops:

Thank you! Only the "domesticated" dinos (terradons, salamanders, bastiladon, etc) will be painted with pokemon color schemes. My saurus, skinks, slann etc aren't necessarily pokemon themed, I guess because I feel like they would be the ones "catching" the larger dinos. So all my basic starborne will be the blue of my pictured skink unit, and then on the characters I'll be going for different schemes so they stand out like my starpriest. I went for a leopard gecko scheme for him.

The stars I thought would be a cool way to signal that they're starborne as well as painting the bases like what I pictured Azyr to look like. I've incorporated stars somewhere on all my starborne units, the skinks crests, sallies spine frill, terradons wings.

And he's done! I ended up spending much longer than anticipated because I just really liked painting the little guy so I pushed myself a bit, trying out new textures and techniques. I even tried some stippled scale texture on his under belly transitioning to the orange skin in the style of neveroddoreven.

Thanks! They will all end up on the blue bases with the yellow cracks like the skinks/sally/terradons I have in my initial post. I wanted to go for something different for my starborne, so I went with that as a sort of space/galactic style base, and I picked blue and yellow because all the art I could find for the realm of Azyr was mostly blue and yellow.

I'll be doing the bases for both priests, kroak, my steg chief, astrololith bearer, and 5 guard all together as a single batch once they're all painted and I'll post em all, along with some full army photos at that point!

Kroak's palanquin so far. Not super happy with it, going to try adding some sepia tones to contrast with the blue and see what that looks like, and then I'll color some of the other details which might help it. Hoping to get more done tomorrow evening!

I just wasn't happy with how the white stone was looking so I decided to go a completely different direction. I like this much better, and think it looks more starborne-y too. Gonna start on the other details Thursday

Got basecoats down on other details and worked on the vines and leaves a bit today. I'll prob post again after the weekend with whatever progress I've made. Goal for April is to be done Kroak, 5 guard and an astrolith bearer
 
Just wanted to chime in and say what impressive work you did on those Terradon wings, the jade in the skink priest's scepter, and the feather/leafs in his headdress as well.

Almost done with Kroak, I think I'll be able to matte him down and get the metallics done tomorrow. I ordered two inks that'll arrive Thursday to finish up the marble effect on his death mask and he'll be done!
