O I'm sure it'd be high. Even if he'd lose 80% of his posts he'd still be in the top 10. But how much exactly would he lose. 5%? 10%? 50%? 75%? Even more :p

Those posts have a very high word-count for sure.

    Congrats mate, have another one!

You mean the most liked content on all of the forum?

Strictly based on total word count, I'd imagine I'd drop to 2nd behind @Scalenex

Still number one by a country mile. Undefeated & undisputed. #AndStill

Although I have become most known for posting memes, I actually have quite a varied selection of content:
    • polls and their resultant discussions (I was Pollbringer long before I was Memebringer)
    • painting blog
    • terrain blog
    • woodworking blog
    • a crap ton of 8th edition content, including some with extremely heavy word/numerical counts... for instance
    • debates of all sorts across all a wide range of topics (also extremely wordy)
    • many hundreds of posts in relation to rumours/reveals, most notably in this thread, but also scattered throughout
    • a bunch of off topic discussions across an extremely wide array of subject matter
    • Star Wars... did somebody say Star Wars?
    • content in which I make fun of AoS!! (although admittedly, I don't really take part in this very much anymore)
    • introductions and answering of forum member questions (to the point where people have mistakenly assumed that I was a moderator)
    • oh yeah... this thread too!
    • participant of the Golden Serpent contest (in the conversion division)

To be honest, the only aspects of the forum that I haven't taken an active interest in is the fluff section and battle reports. You'd be hard pressed to find many forum members who have dabbled across so many corners of Lustria Online.

Now what if we discounted AoS stuff... where would you be then? :cyclops: Two can play at this game! :hilarious:

    I agree... on both accounts.

on the topic of woodworking, my girlfriend wants to get into that, but is an absolute novice who barely knows where the sharp end of a saw goes. Any suggestions on how to get her started without losing limbs?

What type of woodworking is she looking to do?

There are a bunch of different saws for different purposes:
    • table saw
    • miter saw
    • skill saw
    • radial saw
    • circular saw
    • band saw
    • scroll saw
    • etc.

Each of these have different capabilities/uses and different levels of risk. If she is looking at making decorative things like I make on my scroll saw, they are all safe (I've been using mine unsupervised since I was about 10). If she wants to make big things like furniture, she'll need a table saw. The table saw is the most useful saw overall, but it is also the one that carries the greatest level of risk. If she does want to get a table saw, and safety is a concern, SawStop is by far the safest.

Of course, no matter what she decides to get, proper knowledge and implementation of safe practices is of the highest importance.

Eventually she'd like to learn how make wooden toys, especially clockwork toys. Basicly she dreams of becoming gepetto. So a mix of woodworking/woodwiddling I guess.

We don't have the space for anything big, and a tablesaw probably would scare her too much anyway, even if they're perfectly safe. Again she has literally no experience with woodworking and would struggle to put put together even the simplest of projects on her own.

So I am trying to look for something that an absolute beginner can do that isn't too intimidating, while at the same time being interesting enough to actually keep her motivated. If you know of any places where I can find some super basic designs for wooden toys that don't require any fancy tools (or fancy techniques) that'd be great.

Table saws are FAR from perfectly safe!!! Even with the SawStop (which will save your fingers/hand from being chopped off), there is still kickback. Kick back is when the back of the blade picks up the wood and fires it back towards the user's direction at extremely high speed. Of course, it can be used safely but you can't allow yourself even the smallest lapse in concentration/judgment. It is easily the most dangerous tool in a woodworking workshop.

Plus it requires a large amount of space.

I think a Scroll Saw is an ideal starting point. It is probably the safest of the power tools. It also requires very little space and an entry level model can be purchased cheaply (make sure the saw can use pinless blades... trust me).

If you want to go even simpler than a Scroll Saw, you could always buy a Fretsaw which is its hand tool equivalent.
    upload_2021-4-23_20-40-22.jpeg
That said, it's obviously a lot slower and much less fun in my opinion!

Keep in mind though, that all wood working projects will require supplementary tools in addition to your saw. Drill Presses are immensely useful. Sanding blocks/paper, clamps, wood glue etc.

This website has a bunch of free scroll saw patterns, including some puzzles/toys. I consider Steve Good to be the Vince Venturella of the scroll saw world.

There are also plenty of books with patterns for toys that you could find on amazon or specialty shops....

    https://www.amazon.ca/s?k=woodworking+toys&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

You can also find a bunch of patterns online, some for free and others you will have to purchase.

    Youtube is another option: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=woodworking+toys

A distant second I'm sure. Actually Killer Angel might edge you out. I'm sure a hypothetical word count ranking would be stacked with frequent posters on the fluff forum. I bet @spawning of Bob would still be on the leader board despite not having posted recently. He put up a literal full novel and then some.

But yeah I got fluff pieces, old school tacticas, and my very wordy Scarterra thread.

Though I'm sure if we measured word count that would be a lot of work for our illustrious leader, @The Red Devil (long may he ribbet) because the programming to track total word count would have to count the words of each and every post of each and every thread.

Not nearly as distant as the distance between myself and the second place contender in terms of pictures uploaded! :D And as they say... a picture is worth a thousand words!

I also probably dominate in terms of number/calculations count (i.e. math-hammer) and number of polls created!

As such, I'm only too willing to concede word count domination to you good sir. Welcome to the hall of champions.

Who knows, I suppose it is possible. I don't frequent the fluff sub-forum, so I don't have good gauge as to how long typical posts are and how plentiful the post rate is of the top fluff posters.

Although, when it comes to debates, WFB tactical discussions and random/poll analysis I am anything but short on words.

It's probably good it isn't tracked... if it was, maybe I'd have to take a run at it.

"Encyclopedia" of NIGHTBRINGER, a long form analysis of:
    • AoS: why it is blight upon the world and an inferior game (kidding)
    • The failings of Kathleen Kennedy and the many possible hypothetical ways in which she might meet her end
    • Mat Ward: The Good (8th edition BRB), the bad (7th edition DoC army book) and the Ugly (Necron fluff)
    • SJW Deep Dive: Cucks, Fakes and NPCs
A good start.. ground would be made up quickly. :D

Yeah, this has so far been the biggest issue. While I have a bunch of basic tools like a handsaw and such that she could use, even the most basic patterns we found already required an investment as they need the various special shaped knives/files/etc. to actually be able to sculpt. And she is very hesitant to actually buy those as the ones she found were quite expensive. And unfortunatly I don't know anyone who could borrow us some to get her started and see if she actually likes it.

Anyways I'l have a look and see what I can do with those links.

Only fitting I suppose... from one Tomb King to another....

@Killer Angel : Congrats on reaching second place on the Most Likes list! !.png

And with that, the first and second Tomb Kings are in place. We now await @Lizards of Renown to ascend into third place and complete the trinity. The Age of Three (Tomb) Kings is nearly upon us!!

Now you guys have got me thinking.

It reminds me of a previous discussion I had a while back (with @Crowsfoot I believe, but I could be mistaken). It was in reference to painted models. I made the statement that I have more pictures of my painted models on the forum than anybody else. This was met with skepticism, but... my avatar is a picture of a model I painted... and that avatar appears on the forum over 42,000 times (though it was a bit less then). So my statement was true.

That brings us back to word count, and the same theory holds true. I have a signature. I could re-do my signature. Every word I put in my signature appears 42,356 times on the forum. I read somewhere that forum etiquette dictates that a signature be limited to no more than 10 lines. With a small font, I can fit a lot words into those 10 lines. They add up quickly.... very quickly. Not enough? I can write a passage in MS word, take a screen shot and upload it as my avatar.. each of those words would also be multiplied by 42,356.

Even something as meager as 300 words would equate to 12,706,800 words. Why not 500 words between the two sources?... that would instead equate to 21,178,000 words! HAHAHA :D:p:D:p

Sounds like a RAW vs. RAI issue. But strictly by RAW, no one else could claim a higher word count. Now to best me, someone else could only claim that they have the highest word count within posts only, discounting signatures. Seems like a lot of caveats.

And before you direct outrage at my theory... remember... I'm an agent of Chaos. What else did you expect?... or if you prefer...

P.S. yes... I did have entirely too much fun with this crazy useless nonsensical post!! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

I don't think even RAW you could get away with that. Avatars & Signatures are not part of the actual posts. They are controlled from a different place, they get attached after making the actual post, and it is done automaticly by the server. You are not involved in that at all.

At best the server would be the one who could claim the signatures/avatars as its posts as technically that is the entity which makes the seperate once attached to each post.

That's like saying that George R.R. Martin or J.K. Rowling don't get credit for their novels because they weren't the ones that actually printed them. If an author sells a million copies of a book, they still get credit even if they weren't the ones to print or actually sell the books.

But as long as we are bending the rules, if you go by word count, not post count, I would say at least 50% of everything I every written on L-O has been indexed. And the link to all the indexes is in my signature. If we want to talk about force multipliers here...
