The way current 9th edition codexes work is that there is no standalone digital version. You purchase the physical version and there is a code on the back cover. In the 40k app there's an area to add that code in and it gives you kind of a distilled, cliffnotes version of the codex. You don't get any of the fluff text or stuff like that, its just set up to deliver all the necessities (warscrolls, allegiance abilities, artefacts, etc, etc) in a streamlined format. I would suggest looking up some images to see how it appears. It's definitely not the full text, but it's everything you'd need to reference from a rules point of view. I would imagine the age of sigmar app will function very similarly. The biggest question right now is what happens to all the books people bought in the existing app, since the new digital format is so much different than just "here's a digital version of the book."
Subscribe! They will send it to you ONE YEAR from now... even better, 1 year from the subscription. So, september 2022
yeah that's the one annoying thing... why can't they give it immeadiatly if you take the year-subscription... just seems rude.
If they let you cancel early for a refund of the remaining part of the cost that makes some sense, otherwise less so.
Sounds pretty far fetched because overhauling seraphon models will take them a decade at the rate they do things
seraphon getting an entire overhaul, lumineth getting nothing, Kragnos pulling an entire army out of thin air all sound super unlikely. Mini-kragnos also is impossible in terms of fluff cuz he's the last of his species, so noone to make a mini-kragnos with.
so im actually a little worried about the new app. one of the best things about the current app is easy acces to all the scrolls. and i would hate to have to pay for the privilege of doing what was free before. but i guess its not a huge deal i usually print out the scrolls as well just because i find that handy so i decided to pre-emptivly do that for the models in the dominion box (i know there are cards in the box but i i like having the warscrolls on normal paper). but i noticed that there arent any downloadable warscrolls for it. so i thought is this just because its a launch box with a bunch of scrolls. so i checked the soul wars box since its still available. it has downloadable warscrolls. so my question is. with the announcement that this app is a subscription service and there being no downloadable warscrolls on the dominion box. do yall think free warscrolls are going away from 3.0 onwards
I've heard similar rumors for everything up until the seraphon line refresh, so I don't think it's entirely out of the question. Our army has proven to be quite popular with the masses when we actually get decent rules, we obviously have a very strong and loyal core following, our current line is largely outdated with some utterly terrible models, and they've already released new Seraphon models recently so there's no reason to think it's out of the question for them to release more. I'm not sure how well the new Kroak sold, but I pre-ordered one as soon as it went up to do my part in showing there's demand
Really? That's awesome if true, is there somewhere to see that data? I kept checking the site to see if it sold out and it never did that I noticed, whereas the witch hunters and the slaanesh demons both sold out at one point so I assumed they sold better than kroak which made me sad lol. But maybe they just produced more kroaks than the other models
The main reason a complete model refresh for us is unlikely is because they'd need to replace 12+ units at once. And that's just the old goofy sculpts. If they'd update everything they'd be replacing 20+ models. I don't think there's been a single update or release in AoS that's been that big. And I'm not even counting the models that have multiple builds (e.g. carnosaur variants + troglodon is just counted as one here). Updating a few models is fairly probably. But everything at once is unlikely.
That's a cool wishlist..... But lot of that sounds plausible. The Gors and BoC stuff I hope to God is true. They've been in such a bad place and need revamps of their own line and rules so badly. The Nurgle book coming would be nice for them, as they're working out of four books atm? Elves not getting anything is a lie. Clearly. Ogres need some updated heros and units, so I could believe that too. I can't really say anything about Kragnos and a centaur army. I don't doubt he's going to get his own army eventually, but eh. For Seraphon to be refreshed though. Here's a list of what needs to be put into plastic. Slann Priest Starseer Scar Vet on cold one Eternity Warden Astrolith Bearer Salamander Pack Razordons Pack Chameleon Skinks Kroxigors And here's a list of units that were last updated before 8th edition WHFB monster plastics. Old blood on foot Skinks Sauras Sauras Knights Temple Guard And here is a list of updated units in plastic. Starpriest Skink Chief on Terradons/Ripper Stegadons Bastilidon Carnosaurs/Trog Terradons/Rippers If they would refresh our Army, we'd likely see everything not updated for WHFB 8th edition brought up to standard. Which is a lot. It's basically releasing a new army, without actually releasing any new units. And what if they gave us new unit? I can't imagine what we would look like after a full refresh of rules and models. It's such a foreign and costly reality for me.
I started to play in 6Ed (aroudn 2003) and I can tell you that Slann, Priests, Sallys, Chameleon Skinks, Saurus and Skinks were "new" back then. On 7 Ed (around 2007), they released a new Temple Guard, Stegadon, most heroes foot heroes under their own name+ Astrolith, new Terradons, new Kroxigors, new Knights and Razordon. On 8Ed, (around 2012) they released the Carno kit, new Terradons again (now with Rippers), Bastiladon and the Starpriest sculpt. They reworked some existing units from 6 to 7 but they didnt continue with the trend for 8Ed. To be honest, I highly doubt they update big dinos for us, but that makes us without a named hero on said dinos, just like Kroq-Gar was on Fantasy. I think we are the faction with less named heroes around: Kroak and the new UW warband. Saurus, Skinks and Knights need a rework but Skinks are not bad, to be honest. I'm painting a few right now and are fine, just mono-pose. Terradons and Rippers are fine, as well as Temple Guard. I hope for a double kit Sallys/Razordon and Slann/Starseer. The other foot heroes should be put into plastic as they are currently, but I don`t know if they have ever made the jump from resin to plastic with the same kit.
Yes that is the gist of what I said. Everything before the 8th edition Kit update is subject to possible redo to fit a new/more uniform aesthetic, and the monsters are closer to Kroak than they are to the older plastics. That's including all the old resin/'new in 6th' metal models. Even of we don't get new named characters, new standard buff characters could fill out slots nicely. Chameleon hero, Krox hero, priests/starpriest on Terradons/Rippers. Maybe even the return of a Prophet as a Priest+1.
