Dogs of War are in the good luck and kiss your wallet goodbye. Not surprising as the army was squatted years and years ago. It still annoys me that I could have picked up 90% of what I wanted at a decent price if I had known how crazy the market was going to get. A guy at Historicon was selling a huge selection for short money but I thought "not now I have time" oh the idiocy of youth.

Yeah, welcome to a similar club. I SOLD most of my Dogs of War stuff (heck, pretty much all of my fantasy armies save for a handful of character figures) during an extended period of unemployment. At the moment I'm making inroads rebuilding my old Orcs and Goblins army. It is coming along nicely, though I do need more common goblins, and I don't have any of the artillery pieces yet...

That is sad. I had to sell a bunch of stuff when my wife lost her job including one of the original run Warhound titans. I have only the few artillery I use, I do want another doom diver, or I'd offer to sell some. I don't have any common goblins as I had hoped to get forest goblins...Sadly that didn't happen due to ridiculous cost.

    I feel you.
A similar thing happened to me when i was at university.
it was the starting period of magic (just after Unlimited) and there were shops that (as happes now) were used to sell cards.
I recall dual lands sold at the equivalent of 5 euros. And there was a good amount of them.
But at those times i've had few money to spare, and dual lands didn't seem that cool...

Have you considered getting these? They are hard-plastic, come with all the options of common goblins, and are very similar in style to the GW Spiderriders.

Same for me starting MTG! I was offered a Black Lotus for $200 and thought the guy crazy! Now I think I was crazy!

Sorry for double post. Those look solid, 25 for 27€ is a decent price. GW would charge 37€ for ten! I only want 100 or so... to add to my 300 odd night goblins...

I’ve seen those and they look great, particularly if you’re a fan of Forest Goblins.

@BrotherSutek If you’re also looking for bog-standard Gobbos then Mantic recently released a new set of them for similarly affordable prices as the Shieldwolf ones:

Thank you! I don't need any greenskins right now as I have... a lot of them already. There are many more armies that need my attention as most are just tabletop level painted or not at all. Need to get motivated and finish those before committing to a couple hundred new models.

Yeah... I had 10K points' worth of Dogs of War (lots of generic units I converted from other minis), 8K worth of Dark Elves, 3K worth of Orcs and Goblins, 1K worth of Dwarves, and a smattering of other things, plus an IG Armored Company and an IG Artillery Company (Basilisk-heavy mechanized infantry). All sold to pay bills.

That said, I'm good for the time being. I'm focusing mostly on cavalry at the moment. Got 20 wolf riders, a bunch of boar riders, some chariots, and the original Azhag the Slaughterer on Wyvern, so my nostalgia is happy. :)

10k of Dogs of War is about four units... I kid, I kid! That is painful but I respect that you were able to deal with real world hell by selling "less" important things. I've sold off several armies to pay bills, help friends who can't afford armies and due to lack of interest. Hobby burnout is real and with few people around me interested in playing, well they are interested but won't commit to a time and play, it makes the drive lessen. High Elves, Grey Knights, Eldar and Dark Eldar are on the fence for me to sell with some old school Death Guard hovering there as well. Tomb Kings, Skaven, Wood Elves, Empire, Lizardmen, Dwarves, Greenskins, Chaos and Dogs of War are safe but need some love. Can you tell I had a good paying job when I wasn't married? I won't even get into the stuff I sold or traded and all the 40k/30k stuff I have! I think I have a hobby issue.

    Yeah, so basically...

Mum sold my Dwarf army (something on the order of 5-6K points), Tyrannid army (about the same) and my Eldar army (probably 7K) while I was in the US for some time.

Took over 10 years for the wounds to close and to start collecting again and cannot confront restarting 40K (but mostly because I get little enough time to play as it is).

More like 40 units. Admittedly, Golgfag's Ogres (8 of them) were about 1000 points of that by themselves, but still, yeah. Being able to pay bills when you're in a financial pinch is nice, but I sure do wish I hadn't had to sell all of that stuff. :(

That hurts me just hearing it! My mother had almost sold my magic cards on me when I moved out. Fortunately I visited and saw them on the pile of "to be sold ". Hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth she was going to let go for $45! Playset of gaea's cradle, original dual lands etc! She told me I should have gotten it out sooner and that was a solid point. I couldn't imagine starting over.

    Yup.

Funnily enough mum also sold my brothers Magic cards…. Wasn’t a good spring cleaning moment! :)

Yeah, see, I'm kind of ... well... not lucky as per se? My mother, though she wouldn't admit it, is kind of a hoarder. She doesn't throw stuff out. But then, her house is so cluttered I don't want to set foot in it, so.... mixed blessing?

Me! I’ve managed to buy about 6k of Empire during covid. All unbuilt as yet...

Wellllll my local GW manager (who knows I’m a die hard fantasy fan and psyched about the potential of TOW) has just had his store moved and revamped and had a forgeworld section added as part of it and when I was in just before the grand opening, said he will also be stocking the starter box when it launched.

Take that with a pinch of salt as not sure how true it is but he seemed pretty confident on it and I’ve known him for years as I often use the store to get stuff, as it’s very near my work so I wouldn’t expect him to deliberate mislead me.
