Hey guys, Wow - been ages since I've used a forum like this. Reminds me of the olden days. I used to play 40k as a teenager, but fell out of the hobby as my life changed. I'm now 30 and got back into it last year during COVID-19 here in the UK. I ended up painting a full necron army, selling them 'cos I didn't like them, then getting a Deathguard and Admech force together. Unfortunately, I also have adult ADHD so my attention span can leap rapidly from one thing to the next. The hobby is dynamic enough to keep me interested, but my interest spreads across different areas and suddenly one day, I needed to collect Age of Sigmar. I bought dominion, painted the Stormcast, sold the orruks and then spent a few hundred quid on eBay buying more Stormcast. I ended up with a 2k+ army and painted them all the fastest I've ever painted anything (owing in large parts due to metallic drybrushing and contrast shading). But with that army done and 2 games played, I knew I needed something. I like Stormcast, but they lack a real sense of identity to me. Then I saw Seraphon. Oh, I thought, here are the lizardmen from my youth. They're interesting. I'll just have a little look into their lore. Maybe a Google of their hobby community. Oh, what's this, Lustria online? Hey - I can find their Start Collecting box for like 40 quid....maybe if I sell some unused models on eBay I can justify a new army. Now here I am with a full start collecting force (and the added models from the excellent thread on here), a bastiladon, 20 skinks, stegadon and Slann (old Kroak). I'm going with a Teal and Orange scheme for them and want to really play with colour and contrast. I want them to be my most vibrant army and the most 'wow' to see on the tabletop. I tend to get obsessed with my hobbying. I write lore, read everything, watch YouTube videos on the subjects and even fit in time to game. I can't wait to go on the Seraphon journey alongside my stormcast and hey, I can even ally them together sometimes! Glad to be here!
Well, good to have with us such an enthusiast hobbyst! For any doubt or question you may have, just ask. (BTW, we discuss also 40k here, in the General Hobby subforum)
Welcome to Jurassic Park! Does the "Tyneside" part of your ID mean you're from Northern England? Either way, welcome back to the hobby. Don't completely end off on Warhammer Fantasy yet, we still have an active community and we're hoping (vainly) that The Old World brings it back to the present as well. Enjoy the forum!
Hey mate - it does indeed. I live in Newcastle. I was never actually into WHFB, it was just the other system around when I played 40k - so I didn't mind trying AoS as I had no prior affection for WHFB - though I do look forward to old world.
Welcome along! Have fun with our beloved Lizards riding dinos. If you like you could start a painting blog to update us on your progress Take a look around for all the good stuff and help that is on this forum. When in doubt do not hesitate to ask, almost always there is someone that can help you out Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks man - I will start a painting blog. I'm not really much of a painter but I have mastered a few tricks to make models look better than my abilities haha. (Airbrushing, drybrusing, oil washes etc)
If that's the case, it'd be cool to see you post in the fluff forum too. More content there is always good, and there's always the bi-monthly story contests you can participate in
I'll have a go - I don't know much about AoS as a mainly 40k player but I did recently enter Black Library's open submissions so fingers crossed.
