They are looking cool, bad-ass power suits! I love the heraldry very much. Nice freehand shark Keep up the great work Grrr, Imrahil
Switching gears from power armor, I painted up my first minis for the Drowned Earth miniatures game! These are all members of the Militia faction/crew, so I ensured each has the faction color (green) proudly displayed on their tunics and uniforms. The sniper still needs a bit of work as his skin tone did not turn out how I wanted, but the dwarf leader is done! My wife said the dwarf looks like Dolph Lundgren, and now Dwarf Lundgren is all I can see Militia team medic: Had fun painting up her backpack: Looking at this post I realize I forgot to add any dirt or mud to the bottom of her boot Lastly is the team Sorrian (I am pretty sure its pronounced the same as "saurian") Very snazzy in his beret and sunglasses. First "lizardman" I have painted in quite some time, and unlike my actual Lizardmen army this guy is blue!
Very nice skirmish company, and great to see that Lizardmen are part of the setting! Drowned Earth looks an interesting game, and definitely has a Necromunda feel to it, which company’s in charge of it?
The Drowned Earth game is under a small company called Olmec Games. I like the game setting a lot, the book is pretty great! Never played a game, but I have heard reviewers liken it to Infinity in terms of activation sequence and action-reaction turns during play, and others cite its similarity to Necromunda in how really packed boards are best to play the game on.
Pics of my full Indomitor Kill Team: Chapter Heraldry: Top Row: Blood Angels, Black Templars, Sons of Medusa, Koi chapter, Yellowjackets chapter Bottom Row: Aurora Talons, Dark Angels Deathwing, Carmine Blades, Gorgons chapter, and the Space Sharks Love how the big group turned out! Just the five completed aggressors:
Finished up my Drowned Earth militia! Spoiler Having a lot of fun painting these guys, they are a big departure from all the black power armor I have been painting over the last few months. Big gorilla gunner lady: Spoiler She turned out good though I may go back and remove the brown-ish bands on the ammo strap. Not quite as happy with the sneaky sniper, but I am calling him done for now. Need to keep experimenting with dark skin tones. Spoiler I got started on my second gang/crew, the Firm, and their heavy gorilla, shown here right after his wash bath! The Firm's main color is purple, hence his purple hulk pants. The leader of the Firm gang is supposed to have a Yakusa-inspired tattoo on his shoulder, not sure if I am going to be able to pull that one off!
Thanks! It has turned out ok so far: Will be adding another tiny fish on his chest later, but I am happy with how the tattoos look on his back. Really enjoying painting purple, I need to do more of this
Finished up three member of the Firm (Drowned Earth faction)! These guys are the criminals/gangsters of the setting, led by their boss Kaneda: I feel like this gang has a lot of character when compared to the Militia, probably just me. Tattoos are good enough for now, they were a fun attempt. Next up is Venk, the suspicious dverg (dwarf) who looks like he could be a Satyr judging by his horns, but I think those are just decorations of animals he killed. He has a few poisons and other supplies in his backpack. I had fun toning down his skin with some green wash to give him a more creepy appearance. Lastly we have Hosk the gorilla heavy-bruiser: You can tell this gang are the "baddies" due to the chopped-off fingers hanging from his belt. Anybody else ever seen the Good, the Bad, and the Weird (Korean movie)? Three more Firm members to paint up next, and hopefully my next to Skywing Infiltrators too.
Nice work! those colors look great together. well, don't undersell your attempt. It looks very good to me Grrr, Imrahil
One more (crazy!) member of the Firm: Mirja and her wrist-mounted flamethrowers! Surprisingly I was able to take lessons I learned when painting the smoke trails on my deathwatch suppressors to good use!
Good looking paintjob. The flames look neat! I do wonder about the practicality of flamethrowers mounted to your wrists though... might cause nasty burns to your hands Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks! Didn't think about the wrist flamers, it would probably not be very effective in real life! I know the wrist-flamethrower was a thing in one of the x-men movies... but that guy was also a mutant so he was probably immune.
Finished my next addition for the Firm, Makko the Chasmid! I was channeling my inner Dino Venger fan I remember watching that show (briefly) as a kid and having an action figure of the blue-triceratops Spike, so I decided to paint this guy in his blue-skinned color! It came out more brightly saturated than I had intended, but considering it is one of my favorite models out of the entire Drowned Earth range I am ok with that! Spoiler: Makko the chasmid Did I mention I am enjoying painting purple? He looks good with the other heavy from the Firm crew! Spoiler I have one more member of the Firm on hand to paint, almost done with my Drowned Earth collection!
Finished up the final member of the Firm earlier this week, Lissz the Sorrian: Spoiler Alongside the Sorrian from the Militia crew: Full Drowned Earth Firm faction:
