Hi! I will be playing a tournament on early july, with almost no time to test the list.

    This is My first test:

    Saurus Oldblood
    . Carnosaur
    . Armour of Destiny
    . Sword of Battle

    Slann Mage-Priest
Lore of Life, Wizard Level 4
. Battle Standard Bearer Standard of Discipline
    . Becalming Cogitation
    Harmonic Convergence
    . Channeling Staff

    Saurus Warriors
    Champion
    Musician
    Standard Bearer
    . Model: Spawn Leader
    . 30x Saurus Warrior Spears

    Skink Cohort
    Champion
    3x Kroxigor
    24x Skink
    Standard Bearer

    Bastiladon
    Solar Engine

    Stegadon
    Giant Bow
    Sharpened Horns

    Temple Guard
    27x Temple Guard
    . Champion
    . Musician
. Standard Bearer Banner of Eternal Flame

    Troglodon

troglodon, stegadon and carnossaur to flank the enemy, Bastiladon to Support the 3 blocks of infantry.

Never played this list, I usually run 1 Slaan and 2 skink priests with lota of Skinks skirmishers and no monsters.

I'm not the most experienced Lizard general, but this looks like an awesome list to me. You have two solid Saurus bloccs with borderline unbreakable leadership on your Slann, plus plenty of more mobile monsters.

Congratulations on using the Troglodon, I always use mine because I find him a cute and crawly boye. But he rarely does anything useful!

If you can bear to part with him and want the list to be more "competitive" you could reinvest his 200 points into some Skink Skirmishers. Or just try to get some skirmos in there another way! To my mind having at least a couple of skirmisher units is essentially to getting the most out of your Saurian blocks, to redirect major threats and screen against missile fire.

Overall though if you're interested in trying out an alternative list to your usual massed Skinks, your current army composition is cool.

My first thoughts are that it looks like an excellent list, the magic item combos you're using are excellent. I might consider trying to swap the stegadon for an ancient Stegadon, they are generally a lot better and it's not that many more points. The Bastiladon and especially the Troglodon are generally regarded to be somewhat suboptimal choices, but I would definitely still run them if you're going for a bit of a fluffier list, they can still perform.

I agree with the Troglodon, it just isn't good, but if you want to use it, then awesome, it is a nice model.
And I second taking an Ancient Stegadon instead of the regular.

In terms of the Carnosaur - It can definitely work, but I found it to be very inconsistent so just bear that in mind. It will also struggle against most infantry, in terms of survival. If you want to use it, I'd say take the Bloodroar upgrade. Alternatively you could take regular scar vet cowboys.

Hi there! Cool that you are going to a tournament. I second the rest, Troggles are generally pretty bad sadly, not what i would take to a tournament but it is always good to try something new. Running absolutely 0 units of Skink Skirmishers seems wild to me, how do you want to deal with opposing monsters. Also how are you going to deal with enemy cannons? You have no war machine hunters at all, in a list with 4 monsters that does not really seem correct to me. I would cut the Trog for Chameleons, Rippers, or maybe even just Skink Skirmishers, they also sometimes do the job of warmachine hunting.

    Hey. Welcome to Lustria!

I'm going to think more about this, but I definitely would not take the Krox/Skinks unit, Carno, Basti or Trog. Especially if you are doing an all-comers list.

I would replace with another Saurus block, Skink Skirmishers, a unit of Chamo Skinks and make the Krox unit 6 strong as a flanking unit.

More on this later. Sorry, just in a rush.

    Good luck.

If you manage to use the Skrox units effectively let us know. My experience has been horrible with them as has most people I have spoken to on the forum. Maybe as a flank charger for disruption purposes?

Lizardmen Victory, At the last moment. Skink priest cast the Flock of Doom and killed a bloodthirster with a single wound remaining!
Cohort unit handled simultaneously a unit of 5 Chaos Knights and 3 bloodcrushers. Salamander hunting pack Chase down and destroyed a Slaughterbrute.
Bad rolls for both players, specially during Magic phases.
Lots of pictures, but no time to post them now. Got to Go to work.

Interesting list, really a lot of magic in there! Were your 2 additional priests useful at all? I also like the idea of having 4 salamanders, did they do some good roasting? :) Lore of Life without monsters seems odd, what was your consideration to take that? I feel like you cannot really make good use of the Lore Attribute in this list.

Would specifically like to know on the Skrox unit if your opponent chose to hit at the Kroxigor rather than the Skinks.

And how did it handle Chaos Knights (1+ armour save, striking before the Krox) and the Bloodcrushers (1+ armour save, also striking before the Krox)....?

Salamanders were not very good, but killed a Slaughterbrute in Close combat !!!
The lore of life is also good for returning Dead infantry, but I got the spells throne of vines, the dwellers bellow, stoneskin and earthblood.
The skink priests did good, and the skink priest with the lore of beasts made the winning move: killed the bloodthirster by casting Flock of Doom!!!

My opponent choose to hit the Skinks. In the first Round of Close combat I had earthblood cast On the unit, and rolled very Good On regeneration saves.
I went for the bloodcrushers, so the knights were not wounded. Won the combat by 4 (3 wounds, 3 ranks, banner versus 1 wound, charge, banner). The knights broke and ran, the bloodcrushers stayed put.

So, I will keep both units of 2 salamanders. I will try to put 1 or 2 stegadons, very afraid of monsters in my apponents armies.

Let me explain: the tournament rules allow the use of monsters in a similar way of scrolls of binding, but with not subject to "unbinding".

Apologies for being late to the party, but I'll still chip in with my views here.

You were right to ditch the poor Troglodon for your tourney list, but honestly think you invested too much into Skink Skirmishers and Salamanders.

I certainly don't understand all the hype around mass Skink clouds - one or two units have their uses in baiting Frenzied units and potentially sneaking round the flanks of units to march-block them, but it requires skill to be able to implement the latter in particular without getting charged and run down, and I notice in your most recent battle report happened pretty quickly to all of your Skirmisher units before they could contribute much to the game. Also magic can be used to clear them from the board without suffering the -1 to Hit penalty that affects shooting attacks - you were fortunate your opponent brought a mainly Khorne-oriented army that avoided magic. Personally all I would go with on the Skirmishing front is perhaps 1 unit of Skirmishers to bait any Frenzied units the enemy might have, and perhaps some Chameleons which have much better chances of achieving the goal of sneaking round the flanks, march-blocking and threatening War Machines (though Terradons and Ripperdactyls can achieve this similarly well thanks to their ability to Fly), and spend the rest of the leftover points from the Troglodon on another unit of Saurus to hold the line - two units of 20+ Saurus plus the Temple Guard block would produce a solid melee-oriented core that can grind down most melee units thrown at you.

Legions of Nagash? Is that the End Times Legions of Undeath list?

Most interesting to see one of your opponents fielding Fimir, what rules is he using with those? Because I'm writing a Fimir ruleset of my own among others and be useful inspiration.
