It definitely is pretty bad. I mean, no tournament play is not that relevant for people, but no support is very annoying.

I am actually very much doubting Wood elves or Warriors of Chaos.

Wood elves very much have the skirmishing bullshit playstyle of shooting and running around people that will make me think most of the Skink Cloud of old, and i love the Skink Cloud. I also play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons nowadays, and i think a lot of models in that army can be co-opted into DnD encounters. Warriors of Chaos are a lot easier to paint though (and i am a terrible painter), they have a very different playstyle from what i used to (more elite, maybe even full cavalry based seems possible with this ruleset) and are also very much co-optable into Dungeons and Dragons.

GW sold out of the Core Rulebook immediately. Most (not all) of the other stuff appears to be available, for now. Pre-order day is going as expected.

I have been mostly negative on how GW has handled this entire game however I will hold out judgment until I play it in a few months. Or if what I see online is honestly terrible. The only thing I want right now is a few more basic TK warriors and the new tomb swarms. Not being able to have two of my armies updated after a quick pdf is...discouraging to say the least. My group is still strong in the idea of 7th and 8th as only the few fantasy players we have left, jumped ship to other games or like the old editions.

So basically while there will initially be some rules for legacy factions (and in typical GW fashion poor rules at that), they will not be encouraged. Boo Hiss.

While I would love everyone to play Tomb Kings as they are amazing... I also play most of the factions. I'm older and have had the time and money in the past to have the fortune to buy a lot. Not being able to play several isn't the issue. Knowing they are sidelined and my friends who play those as their main armies is. We have a lot of VC players in the group, well we had now they are playing Flames of War. This killed any hope of bringing them back as they know they aren't a priority for solid rules. 8th edition was good for most of my armies, barring Tomb Kings, but I doubled my Skaven to be able to horde up and now they aren't going to be long term viable. Boooo!

I've only got Chaos Dwarfs and Lizardmen. This still accounts for 50% of the armies I own (the other two being WoC and TK).

I had a token force of every army in the past. My group had a few hobby army butterfly and when they got bored would sell the army for cheap. Between that and me being paid in models to build and/or paint armies I made out like a bandit. I've sold the Dark Elves, beastmen, Bretons, Ogres, VC, Chaos Dwarves as my hobby time is more limited. If my eldest was into the hobby I'd probably have hung onto them so we'd have a full variety of armies to play but I got good money for them. I understand, even if I don't like, why GW doesn't give us rules for my beloved Dogs of War. Not supporting VC or Skaven two of the more popular armies is baffling. One of my buddies from the good old days is a VC, DoC and Chaos player. It doesn't matter that his armies are over 5000 each if they release a cool model he'll buy it. That's a ton of stuff. He bought two units of Blood Knights! Insanity to not make rules that will tourney allowable and supported to those types of players. I'll stop beating the dead horse.

Initially back in 2019/2020 GW were promoting Kislev as an army for TOW. That fell by the wayside. We'll see what the future holds

    Also Cathay.

    What happened to those?
Back when I could follow the Facebook page dedicated to TOW it was all going big Guns. There was even a map of Cathay. But Pendrake got locked out of fb, I quit paying close attention.

    What happened?

Someone on EEFL has taken a pic of the contents page of the TOW rulebook:

Both Kislev and Cathay will have significant lore mention from the start, alongside what appears to be Norse (Wolves of the Sea), which suggests those three will all turn up at some point in the future.

Also the reference to the Southern Kingdoms may suggest something for Estalia, Tilea and Araby down the lines.

There's been some interesting stuff popping up on reddit. Screen grabs of stats for Beastmen and Greenskins from the Ravening Hordes book.
