Woot, new contest! Hmm, do any of my preexisting ideas work in this theme... Maybe... Nah... But what about... Hmm... This shall require cogitation. I shall be back... With an anonymous entry, so you will never know it was me... Mwahaha...
Going to be looking for thte lizards in redcoats then tbh it would be easy to find me with my fluff angles too. So time to pick something completely different.
I plan to use these contests as a means of taking a short break from my main fluff writing and explore elsewhere in the setting. Now if they can after the fact be considered a part of the same world, well, that's for me to know Plus, you know, see how well I can adhere to a theme and practice writing within a strict word limit, which is a weakness of mine that needs fixing.
Thats fair enough! I must admit, I've been struggling to keep up with your ongoing tale. My weakness seems to be shyness in posting. I've only posted 2 here but I've got another 3 in a permenent state of needing to be revised. And a couple more brewing in the ol' brain oven.
Yeah, it was pointed out that long 10k+ words to a chapter was... a bit much. I think that my subconscious choice in that regard was that when reading works, I like to really sit down and really sink my teeth into a chapter when it gets posted. The number of times I've read somebody's update after two months and its only 3k words, and I'm left thinking "wait, all that time for that?". Well, that an the longer it takes me to upload, the more I feel like I have to have it longer to make up for the amount of time between chapters. I'm trying to work on that habit... Probably a touch worse here in Lustria, as I'm uploading what was already written on a weekly basis with some revisions. Elsewhere, it has literally been a month an upload, so more time to digest.
I have been adding my own art so maybe that makes up for lack of word-count I tend to be consise as I feel guilty writing pages of dialogue. I've got a bit of a Michael Bay streak in me in that I much prefer writing action sequences, especially if things are exploding.
Guilty of that myself. Not to say I can't write chapters where there is no action, but (and this one I can track the source of) I tend to feel like people roll their eyes at "exposition chapters". That originated from a "friend" who was very open about finding non-action episodes and chapters in shows/comics/anime as boring. Which was hypocritical, the guy was a Song of Ice and Fire fanboy. As in the books, not the show.
Well thats a little disapointing. I was just going to say I don't think I've had any explosions in my GoS stuff yet. But then I remembered a skink gets exploded by an Ork. Rough times.
