Ah, at the moment... none. I promised myself I would, y'know, FINISH some projects before I start new ones, so these need basing, primer, and paint along with a pile of other stuff I'm working on. :D

Okay. My inner artist bought 2 broken sets of Mangler Squigs off of ebay for less than the cost of one new box. That gave me 4 big (BIG) squigs to do something with...
    So I did this:
    20221111_222037.jpg 20221111_222027.jpg

I'm calling it a Squigga Kan! It needs more scrap plating on the turret (yes, that is the top of an old paint pot - it still opens, too, and I'm trying to decide if I want to leave it closed or open it and put a goblin inside). I'm going to use it as a Killa Kan for my all-squig Ork army. For scale, that is a 60mm base it is on.

Yeah, that is what others are saying too. I have three more to convert as well, so at least 1 will have an open turret. :D

...and yes, I need to fix the flash on my camera. Priming them should help, I'll re-photo them after priming.

    Excellent conversion there mate!

And I've only just noticed that the paint pot top you used was from the mid-2000s GW paint pot design. I only ever had one of those, for Bleached Bone (Ushabti Bone now if you want to go by what 'new GW' call it). Those were the days...

And now for something completely silly!!!

This... is a kit for a mecha from the Anime "Sakura Wars."

    20230623_172757.jpg

I took this, built it about, hmm, 95% of the way complete, and then added some glue and tossed it into my bits boxes! What does that give you???

    ORK MECHA-DREAD!!!
I mean, clearly is isn't DONE. I need to add more glyph-plates, spikes, maybe some coarser rivets, some exhaust pipes, a boss-pole of some kind (because it is a tad short and that will make it taller), and something to represent the Mega-Dread's "Boombitz," whatever I decide those will be, but the general shape is there, right? :D

I'm currently painting it (slowly). Put the base coat on it a few days ago, want to try to finish it this weekend along with at least one of my Leman Russes.

Malcador for the Skaviir Dominion. There's a nice kit for Horus Heresy, and I've wanted a model of this since Forge World put out their resin ones. It is a nice build, I highly recommend it if you want one of these.
It does raise a few questions though. Do the Skaviir rattikin CALL this a Malcador? They don't know who Malcador is, and as the Dominion is mostly outside of Imperial space, they're not likely to call it this. So I gave it some thought (along with what to proxy other things as) and made a list of alternate names. This all started because I have decided to stop working on my Chaos Marines. I don't really like painting them, I'm not fond of the current aesthetic for Chaos, and finally decided to just stop working on that army entirely. That left me with 3 Predator Tanks and a Vindicator...

    20221204_205821.jpg 20221122_215043.jpg

One of the Predators is a new Rhino chassis with a Leman Russ turret, which I have turned into a Vanquisher/Leman Russ 20240601_130403.jpg
That left me with 2 old (old old old - like from the early 90's old) Predator Destructors (seriously ,these have metal turrets and sponsons, they're THAT old) and an old Vindicator (again, lots of metal parts - I also had another one on order from ebay that should arrive any day now). What to use them as? I don't want to sell them, I actually like how these old Predators look, and I'd like to use them as SOMETHING... which brings us to the Carnodon. Now, I don't do tournaments, that means I can use whatever model I want as long as I clear it with my opponent. So, Predators will be used as Carnodons, but for some reason my brain wanted to call them Verminette Light Tanks, and the naming conventions went downhill from there.

(old old old) Predator --> Carnodon Warscroll --> Verminette Light Tank
Leman Russ --> Leman Russ ---> Stormvermin Main Tank
(old old old) Vindicator --> Griffon Mortar (the only thing that kind of works with the size) --> Globadier Mortar Tank
Malcador --> Malcador --> Verminlord Heavy Tank!

    There we go.

I do find it interesting that while Horus Heresy brought us the Deimos Predator/Rhino/whatever, it doesn't actually look like the original Rhino/Predator from the late 80's/early 90's. A pity, since I liked how those old models looked, but it does mean that Skaviir light tanks don't look like any of the Astartes tanks! :D

I gotta ask, what is the lore that first brought the ratties to the 31st millenium and also what is the lore behind their use of Imperium equipment?

That is a very long question to answer if you want details. Short answer: The Skaviir Dominion started out of the End Times when GHR went "crap, Nurgle is influencing my minions through Clan Pestilens, let's transfer some not-Pestilens to this new universe and see what happens," but they had no Warpstone. Moulder withered and is now mostly medics and vets, Pestilens doesn't exist in the Dominion except as deviant Chaos Cultists that are wiped out when found. Grey Seers are just psykers and advisors now. Eshin are Assassins, Spies, Diplomats, and Advisors.

Verminus and Skryre are the most active and powerful.

Why do they use Imperial tech? Technically, they're not. They use Autoguns and Autopistols, and other weapons that just happen to look similar to Imperium weapons. That said, Skaviir are ALL given some mechanical training, and while the Skryre Engineers do most of the work, pretty much every Skaviir rattikin can reverse-engineer simple tech (and the Skaviir understand it a lot better than the Imperium does). In their expansion, they eventually encounted Imperium space, captured a world with the STC for Sentinel war walkers (and embraced it as a great machine for their use), and pretty much every Imperium world they capture has a TON of Leman Russ (or equivalent) tanks in storage. They're not worth the effort to break down for parts, so they make use of them.

If people do want the full lore behind the Skaviir, I can post it in a new thread, I suppose? I'm slowly working on Codex: Skaviir Dominion, but I wasn't planning on posting it anywhere, just making a copy for my own use.
