Add to that the non-existent historical accuracy, and I do wonder why anyone thinks it's a good film

If you trace the origin of the movie, it's not like they deliberately took real history and wrecked it.

It's a movie based on a comic book based on a fiction book, based on based on a fiction book based on generations of oral lore based on a historical account written by highly biased propaganda-minded historians.

I don't blame Zack Snyder really.

I did know it was based on the comic book, but both still refer to the original historical battle in the title and the very basic gist, and can thus still fool a cinemagoer who doesn't know about the comic book into thinking that that was how the Battle of Thermopylae was fought, and that was how the Spartans and Persians looked. It's not as if it were a fantasy story set in a unique fantasy world that borrows a lot of aesthetics from Greek myth, like the short-lived BBC Atlantis series was for instance. Funnily enough I'd say Atlantis, set in a unique Greek-inspired fantasy world, still better recreated Classical Age Greek arms and armour than 300 :hilarious:

Fantasy writers usually put more effort into the logic and verisimilitude of their worlds than historical revisionists do. Besides, Earth has terrible world building.
