Oof, eyes... Unless it's a special character who really needs the detail, humans don't get to have their eyes done by me. The wash/flesh contrast will give them shadowed eyes that make it clear that's where the eyes are and that they exist, and nobody has complained about that. :p Lizards and non-humans, I will just colour the sclera and only if the model's eyes are big enough will I do the iris.

I spent an age trying to get eyes done and getting ever more frustrated with the results before the chaps at my FLS told me not to worry about the eyes, as from the distance we usually look at them? We barely register them.

While this is true, there is something deeply rewarding about getting it just right
    IMG_20241122_134354221~3.jpg
(I even tried a bit of eyeliner on this now :p)

My current technique is to get the yellow blobbed on and then the pupil but then go in and clean up. It's easier to paint eyelids neater than the recessed and harder to see eye itself I find.

Here's what it looks like before the clean up.
I'm usually wearing my 3x zoom lense for this kind of work.

People that add gradients or eye shine are practicing dark witchcraft.

I made the mistake of going on pinterest. I'll lose a few hours at a time learning how to paint different ways and getting inspiration. I just need a game on the horizon to motivate myself. By itself I'd rather build than paint and it takes a lot to get me to fix older army low level paintjobs.

That sounds fun! Today I will bring a whole heap of sprues to the local GW for recycling and get some new paintbrushes. Some of mine are close to 20 years old... Also dressing up some saurus infantry in little outifts :p

Make some sprue-goo :p The ultimate in recycling and repurposing.

I've never actually done that myself, but I've heard it is a good way to do some home-crafting. Especially terrain. Can anybody attest to that?

I certainly hope you clipped all the spare bits off to add to your bitz box first... I could never do such a thing until I had first scrounged all the useful bits from said sprues. You just never know when a bit will be useful for a conversion...

I now rest. I have been converting all day and I'm only about 50% of the way through. A 40k lizardman army was a stupid idea, what kind of moron would do such a thing?

... I made a 40K Skaven army by mixing older Skaven parts and plastic IG kits, so join the club?

Recently I've been watching video tutorials on scratchbuilding buildings and designing 10mm Steampunk buildings for Armoured Clash.
